I use the receiver to a Xperia Mini Pro and a Blaupunkt tablet, both running Android. The reason was the frequent but very weak reception performance of the GPS sensor in the smartphone and long GPS fix times. On tablet I use the sensor for better illustration of walking routes and the tour (due to the larger display). On both devices running OruxMaps. After receiving the sensor unpacked this, switched filed on Tablet and within 10 seconds it was clear the actual position (measurement in the apartment). The fixed times specified can I fully acknowledge. In direct comparison to a TomTom Europe (with updated fixed data) of the sensor is faster the location (both instruments lay side by side on the dashboard). Further tests were carried out during the flight to the Canaries and back. Since the positioning took a bit longer (about 1 minute on the plane in 12,000m height), but by the previously loaded card I could super record the flight path. The sensor is also tremendously well. At various points in the Canaries and tours on site I have on the tablet in the installed cards extremely zoomed (photorealistic by Google Earth data to zoom level 18). Here, the location agreed mostly agree on to 50cm deviation from reality.
Bluetooth and GPS connectivity can be monitored hervoragend by the signal types of LEDs. The same applies to the battery charge status. A word on this, I have the device for 3 weeks (two weeks on the Canary Islands) sporadically in use until now about 35 hours last at a bike tour over 4 hours and the battery is still running with the first charge ,
For the PC is on the manufacturer side a small software downloaded which GPS fix and various expert settings allow that I have but so far looked only out of interest and not yet used.
Another advantage are the dimensions of the device, in my view. It is kept so compact that it easily disappears in your pocket without leaving too big bulges. I stow, for example the sensor mountain biking in the right pocket and left the running smartphone with OruxMaps to navigation / recording.
A positive side effect, despite Bluetooth connection to the sensor my smartphone battery now lasts much longer than if I use this integrated GPS sensor -> was previously after a 5-hour tour the battery performance even at 30% after a full charge, it is Now after all, still 70% (maps offline with running).
