Customer Review

The lens has come on the market recently. What distinguishes it is that it is suitable as opposed by now several other putative light monster for full frame. Creamy, it is still, of course, advantages and disadvantages at the same time.

Why one buys such a lens? There are several reasons, one is the bokeh. With such an open aperture of the background is very blurred. Especially lights in the background can make very nice on the screen.

Then the light intensity, but since you should have no illusions. 0.95 previously reported As with my review of the SLR Magic Hyper Prime for E-mount APS-C, F0,95 is more psychology than that it works wonders. This I had already found with the Sony 50mm F1.8 compared (SEL50F18) and that there is little difference in light intensity. For Sony's 50mm knackscharf also at maximum aperture.

Here I have a comparison with the Sony A-mount 50mm F1.4 made that I operate with the adapter LE EA4 at the Alpha 7, the swallows also again light. Yet even here the difference is not necessarily serious. It's not like that a bit light intensity will decide whether you can take a picture or not. It has just a little more ISO noise when a level goes up and more it is not.

A test image showed 1/13 s when Mitakon and 1/10 s at Sony, another image provides 1/1250 s to 1/800 s, ie between no worlds. Where can I find the bokeh at Mitakon even creamier because edges are better. In the center I can not "is the sharpness of the Hammer" find (Quote Product Video), will be somewhat blurred (see comparison image). Also the contrast I find offenblendig very weak. On the Alpha 7R I would not even see it. Dimmed at F4 sharpness is then good, it does not need the lens.

Then we are back in focus manually, as opposed to the compared Sony. Action photography is so naturally excluded. The enclosed cat image is the sharpest of 71 shots. When walking around almost no chance was to focus, because the focal plane is so narrow. The Sony goes very quickly, autofocus and make the image directly. Even subject tracking with the phase focus is possible. Stabilizer have not both.

The Mitakon is significantly heavier and larger than the Sony adapter. The size is still ok, comparable to the Sony Zeiss 24-70mm F4. With its 0.8 kg you can not just take it once in a while with the bag.

My conclusion: The high price can be found in more weight than in the power again. With the adapted SAL50F14 you go cheaper, has autofocus, aperture control and EXIF data.

Addendum 13.03.2015: Several reasons no longer leave me at peace, drawn up for the nearly 1,000-euro-a lens 5 Star Rating. I want to make comprehensible.

1. The lens flange is loose. I've noticed that the lens when focusing more and more shaky. At first I suspected the bayonet, upon closer Examine I noticed that the rear metal ring is anchored to the depth of field scale fixed to the bayonet, while the rest of the front lens wobbles. By wiggling during manual focus well Loosened screws inside. Whether that was smart, I do not know, I unscrewed and found that three mikrige screws must hold almost 1 kg lens the bayonet ring. By tightening this screw is tight. For a lens in this price range is an absurdity.

2. The lens hood is of brittle plastic. When I once encountered while, the fixing bayonet is immediately erupted. Since the panel was now already broken anyway, I've got something down on it. Lo and behold, immediately crack the plastic. The separately enclosed in cheap, neutral point cardboard sun visor is fragile goods, so no modern, tough plastic, as one should expect in this price range.

3. Weight and image quality does not match the price league in which the lens is sold. Why are lenses from Sony, Zeiss Sigma or easier? Because they use, instead of the heavy lead glass, high refractive index glass. The known glasses, surcharge's thinner glasses. Compared one gets from the Sigma A-Mount 105mm F2.8 macro that still delivers smoother bokeh, autofocus and stabilizer has, for about 400 EUR. Or the aforementioned Sony A-mount 50mm F1.4. Just to talk about the price range, the Sigma 150-500 mm super telephoto zoom. That's a whole different league of lenses, since nothing breaks, because does not solve anything, because there are no vague figure.

I hope this was somewhat understandable. If there is evidence to my review, you are allowed to write to the comments like this, so what I learn it and the people in the future to get better reviews. Otherwise also like to "like" button.
