Unlike professional keyboards, the Yamaha has indeed only MIDI over USB, but this is in this case advantageous because only a USB cable is required for connection between the computer and keyboard and can be dispensed with additional hardware. Communication between the Yamaha and the computer works with the Yamaha MIDI driver perfectly in both directions.
The playability is good, all the keys on the keyboard work mechanically sound, for my taste could touch sensitivity and weighting of the keys though to be somewhat more differentiated, but it is a keyboard and a piano.
The fixed instruments to simulate properly, but only becomes apparent when connecting headphones or a stereo noticeable; The built-in speakers sound very thin, but the joy of playing does little demolition. Interesting for beginners, is the 'Waiting' the included songs that brought rapid success experiences. The fingering recommendation - even without a score - is a small technical highlight. When connecting an iPad with the EZ-220 Apps ('Page Turner'), not only the score is turned over automatically visible and that just played can be - if desired with vocals - also record.
Positives:
- Playability
- Interesting learning functions
- Annual Processing
- Inspired also 'non-musician'
- Good sound production (AWM)
Negatives:
- Restricted MIDI function
- No internal Sequencing / Recording
- Limited tonal variations (only Reverb)
- Moderate sound quality of your speakers
A great beginner's instrument, which has nevertheless earned 5 stars due to the good price / performance ratio!
