The assertion in another review that the HDDs are shipped improperly packed by Amazon, I can not confirm. HDD festgestretcht in ESD foil, on a cardboard, this fixed in a big box, all again in a carton (I immediately ordered 3).
Aside: The hard drive supports the so-called "Conveyance Test", a special SMART test which verifies that the HDD is damaged during transport.. So you can check for yourself if the delivery was in order. If the HDD does not report errors to this test, it can be assumed - regardless of packaging - that everything is in order. This test can be carried out for example with the Windows tool HDDScan.
Addendum of 12/10/2012:
I have to correct myself. I have previously ordered based on the positive experience again a WD30EFRX. This was this time completely unprotected supplied only in the ESD foil in cardboard packaging, in the Amazon usually wraps up non-fragile items such as books.
5/5 stars for the HDD, but 1/5 for packing this consignment. Probably it depends on the wholesaler whether the HDDs are delivered again in packaging.
