Pure Gold (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Looking for a good Best Of the Marmalades I found this CD. Unfortunately, virtually no information about the content here on amazon. (Mono? Stereo? Originals from the 60's? Or Re-Recordings? Etc.) This situation will not change if you hold the CD in hands. No information on the CD or on the Hard Case. No booklet. Only the titles of the 11 songs. Without the authors.
I can only speculate and go to my "feeling": I think it is Re-Recordings, but very good. Especially the first song, "Whether La Di, Ob La Da", sounds different from the original that is stored in my memory. The piece of cake or hit "Reflections Of My Life" but sounds so real that it is either the original or a fabulously well-made re-recording. It sounds very real, there come memories of earlier high and goosebumps adjusts itself.
The sound of all 11 songs is very good, like a well-made re-mastering. Treble, mid and bass clear and homogeneous present, vocal parts well and clearly. Clean level levels, no clippings or clipping. Professional work. Sound was a Panasonic SC-PMX7DB stereo assessed all controls in position Flat.
The question mono or stereo is difficult to answer. Subjectively, it sounds more like Mono, but it sounds as vibrant and alive that you miss no stereo effect.
Conclusion: Although this is likely to be re-recordings, old memories and 60s feeling to come. Or is very well re-mastered originals. Because of the lack of information I wanted to pull off a star but I stay at 5 because the music is so good and the sound.
