It is thanks to this book I started reading books in English, while my old notes in high school were frankly not brilliant and it seemed like a huge obstacle difficult to overcome. Yet, I knew that this ability would open the doors of thousands of books ever translated and excellent quality - a new culture opening its doors to me. So I bought the first volume of Harry Potter in English, and it passed like a letter in the mail: the book is short, uses a very simple vocabulary and tells a gripping story. It gave me confidence in me to continue, which allows me to read without problems more complex autrements books)
The saga of Harry Potter is also excellent for this because it increases in thickness and complexity in vocabulary and intrigue as and measuring volume, which is a great way to spice up the difficulty gradually.
