The story revolves around the search for an ambitious, plagued by injuries runner (the author) for the perfect, traditional proven over millennia, but lost in the modern skiing technique. Learn the US Ultra Runner scene here; "Recognizes" that the running shoe industry has only "successfully" taught us the wrong running technique a few decades ago and is ultimately able to find living in a Mexican tribe who retired in the Mexican hinterland. In between the story of endurance sports is outlined and demonstrated how the Homo sapiens sapiens, the niche of the endurance runner occupied in the struggle for survival and so to was what it is today: the durchsetzungsfähigste mammal in the world and born to run. The story is entertaining written, very timely and little pathetic for an American book about successes and struggles with the baser instincts (thankfully). The facts are pleasant woven into the story. Truthfulness, I can not judge. But they encourage (at least me) to other works. Unfortunately, the quality of the cover, as inferior to common in US America's hardcover books. Nevertheless, holding a reading experience of a subtle balance between narrative, action, critical and facts. Highly recommended!
