This (PC) Gamer Monitor Acer did everything right. I took him for 3 days under the microscope and am very satisfied. Only the software side support must be better (and is it certainly also).
First Impression
The monitor is solid, the foot easy to install and stable. The setting options are comprehensive. The monitor can be tilted, rotated vertically on its base or on its axis by 90 degrees and adjusted substantially in height to the front and rear. I particularly liked that it is only a few centimeters in the lowest setting on the desk surface. Previously I had a 24-inch model, which did not let lower so far and could therefore be a shelf, which closed above the upper edge of the smaller monitor, unchanged.
On delivery, the brightness has blinded almost 100%, but the monitor has the bottom right of the front "real" keys with tactile feedback for easy and self-explanatory setting.
I sit at a small distance in front of the monitor and have not, despite 28 Inch feel that I have to turn my head to look in all the corners. By the already mentioned possibility of deep lower the screen and its narrow edge of the monitor for its size is quite compact. I have to complain neither halos still Pixel errors in my model.
Accessories
The monitor will be a power cable, a DisplayPort cable and a USB cable, which makes him a small USB hub eg for keyboard and mouse port. The DisplayPort cable has the normal full port size. If the graphics card has only mini-DisplayPort outputs, even an adapter must be used, or to invest directly in a new cable because the enclosed is measured but rather scarce. If the PC is not near under the desk, the length is not sufficient.
Desktop operating
I use Windows 7 and am so far met with no display problems. The monitor is easily recognized by the operating system correctly. In the native resolution of 3840 x 2160, the default icons and fonts are initially tiny, but with a maximum magnification to 150% everything is in perfect order. The supposedly better 4K to compatibility of Windows 8.1 seems to be reduced to the fact that here the magnification can be further screwed up, but I come with the possible under Win 7 setting along well.
Office Programs and Firefox assume scaling both writings and controls. Should there be any problems with display applications, they must be corrected by the software vendor and is as 4K slowly comes in mainstream rolling short term have come so certainly. This is of course especially for games manufacturers.
Core competence of the monitor: Gaming
Games are a true eye-opener in 4k. Even with reduced details in order to produce a high-performance frame rate, the UHD resolution is a real quantum leap. So far I have tested as Skyrim (Elder Scrolls) and Rage (both from 2011) with my GTX 670 liquid alluded to the highest quality and with AA in 4K and the result was breathtaking.
Also real progress is G-Sync, which leads to an absolutely soft and smooth image flow and tearing, or input lag / frame break-ins by V-Sync simply switch off.
With current hardware-hungry games, however, a graphics card from the high-end segement is (ie Nvidia GTX 980) absolute obligation (is my next purchase). In addition, some games are unfortunately not able to run 4K. But I think that this is only a matter of time until the manufacturer, the fixed. A general problem does not exist anyway. While even 4-year-old title, as just Skyrim and Rage, run clean, for example, Starcraft II or FarCry 4 not handle me 4K. Here you have to stay in FullHD what then looks at this model unfortunately worse than with a native full HD monitor, but you can live with it.
Conclusion
A perfect product, there is not yet 5 stars are justified. Price and performance are simply worthy of all honor. The monitor has nice comfortable 28 '' to play, a fantastic 4K resolution, an absolutely gaming suitable fast response time, the G-Sync technology, which is a real tangible progress, all for an unrivaled price.
For enthusiasts with a powerful PC, a clear recommendation.
Edit:
Another addendum. Before I bought the monitor, I naturally read tests (PCGH). The monitor has a very good response times and is fully compatible game. A monitor with zero millisecond delay / input lag does not exist, and also G-Sync is not a panacea. It removes only the V-Sync-related input lag, but even that's a huge step forward decisive and G-Sync is mature and works perfectly.
Meanwhile running FarCry 4 on 4K. Although I can describe what I have done, but did not explain why it has eliminated the problems. After I changed the desktop resolution to full HD and FarCry have 4 played a while to FullHD, it was then also in 4K, even if my graphics card is not really generated smooth frame rates.
