So now just three weeks went with their new work "Playing the Angel" my favorite band (since 83) into the country and now it is time also to write times an objective review. Außnahmsweise I have even taken the trouble and have me the majority read the previously written reviews here and in many cases can it unfortunately only a tired smile have left. Many nostalgics wait apparently still on a second Violator and long for the oh-so wonderful '80s. I was also impressed by the albums "Black Celebration "," Music for the Masses "," Violator "and of course" Songs of Faith and Devotion ", but what we would have said if DM have now published a copy of these albums in 2005. All had screamed that the band does not the countless bands is more developed and well at the end. Since the rather average beginnings on "Speak & Spell" today to "Playing the Angel" there was no halt in Depeche Mode and that's what I expect from a band influenced and standards has set. In addition, there are some songs on the album have parallels to old hits, so reminiscent "John The Revelator" very attached "Personal Jesus" and the first single "Precious" know similarities to "Enjoy the Silence" on. For two weeks running PTA now in my player up and down, and it is far from boring. Does it have the predecessor "Exciter" for some time took up the songs found their way into the ear, so ignite many songs on PTA at the first time to hear and the rest is with every male better. The opener "A Pain That I used to", lets hit the DM fan's heart beat faster, a Klasser chorus and Dave's voice, so the song is top notch. This is followed by "John The Revelator" for me one of the best songs on the album, especially in my opinion is that this song at the upcoming tour of the firecrackers. With "Suffer Well" follows the debut as Songrwriter of Dave Gahan on a DM album, which had called for his solo album "Paper Monsters" and this has now also contributed three songs. "Suffer Well" is a catchy pop song that would make as a single a good figure. "The Sinner in Me" is pefekter Depeche Mode sound, gloomy atmosphere, shrill electronics, just great. With "Precious" a rather atypical song was released as the first single, but in spite of everything it is a very successful title is very reminiscent of the synth pop of the 80s and in the chorus the mega hit "Enjoy the Silence" is not so dissimilar. The first sung by Martin Gore song on the album is "Macro" has a little disappointed me at first listen, but is heard each time the title conclusive. Now follow with "I Want It All" and "Nothing`s Impossible" and the other two tracks penned by frontman Dave Gahan. While "I Want It All" is good, but compared to the rest a little drops, is "Nothings Impossible" my second favorite tracks on PTA. Well done Dave, you have what it takes really. A dark and very electronic song with a chorus and a mood that travels with them immediately. The song has even now not lost anything of its originality after two weeks of continuous listening. With "Introspectre" followed by some instrumental on the album which will be still kept relatively simple but seems entirely appropriate. "Damaged People" is the second title sung by Martin Gore and compared to "Macro" ignites this right the first time. However, you should make in such securities and, in particular texts once thought about the mental state of Martin Gore. With "Lilian" it comes down to business and brisk again DM lie down so that before a very catchy pop song that reminds me a little of the title "But Not Tonight" from the "Black Celebration" time. Finally, there's with "The Darkest Star" again a really gloomy ballad such as "Waiting for the Night" that has become a classic. "Playing the Angel" is an absolute killer album from a band that did not allow stoppage in 25 years of band history and far is your work at the end. Who still mourns old albums that you want to listen to even the rest of the charts of the majority consists only of trivial and recyclter auditory torture and how pleasant it is here once again, such a music heard. Some reviewers have just come to wait times and to listen to the album more often before they rashly criticize something here that you hardly kennem. I can recommend the album every friend good music highly enough and am looking forward to the upcoming tour for all the critics let it be said in the words of Dieter Nuhr:. "If you do not ahnug, just once ...." Of course I brought to the album in the limited edition with bonus DVD and this can only be to every fan to the heart, which is definitely worth the money, the bonus DVD. In this sense, 5 stars for an album with a cult band chosen path continues consistently.
