Nearly down fits perfectly in this series, and sounds again a little different. Musically Michelle takes us along with his three colleagues something back to his roots. And these are quite clear in the late 80s and early 90s and bands like The Cure, Sisters of Mercy and The Mission. And a touch of young U2 resonates. So one may experience on this CD classic gothic rock, as nowadays not too often gets him. The music is clear guitar oriented, but instead of droning chords there are usually clear chords heard. And despite these clear influences Bury Me Deep does not sound like a retro band, but fully in tune with the times. For massive rock sounds are joined by naturally pop melodies, but the crowd never too intrusive into the hearing or act effeminate.
The band's sound is indeed always melodic, but not really chumming, but has the right balance between catchiness and depth. This is certainly also once again the merit of the charismatic and deep song by Mr. Darkness, the vocally loosely in a row between Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost) or Pete Steele (Type O Negative) can be made and these often from the emotional even behind can be. His set at the day passion and variability would surely like to achieve other, which gives the thirteen songs on the album but the right flavor. The melody lines are longingly, sometimes emphasized hymnal and melancholic, but never really dark. Because, as seen on the cover, there are in the dark haze still many bright spots.
Really good songs can be found on numerous Nearly down. But most of them develop their potential only after repeated listening. For example, the uplifting "Mother Mary", the driving "Cobaldt blue light" and "Burn my soul", the reclusive "The Pain", the accented "drag by drag" or straighte Rocker "Dead People Walk". What unfortunately falls a bit negative significant, so some standard rhymes are in the Fire / Desire format. Even here many a Goth cliché is used, even when the music itself is not quite in this drawer, and what is understood today by her fits. Because in the end it is simply beautiful and melodic rock music with a certain Dark Touch and therefore not only to recommend to the gothic rock clientele. For Bury Me Deep are fortunately more than just a demetallized version of End of Green.
