What I was looking for was a media player that can play all + photos, music and videos from Synology DS214 my problems. Photos and music? That's what my old Panasonic Blurayplayer also hinbekommen, albeit rather ugly menu and rudimentary - slowly, but he did it. Without a lot of comfort. Play the videos from the home network? Please do not.
But I have recently used the Chromecast. Thanks to the apps from Synology for the DS, I was able to stream video on the Chromecast and so my view via DVB-C receiver captured and archived broadcasts. Disadvantage of Chromecast clearly: Sparks only in 2.4GHz WLAN and so can not express "all" what he is accused.
Before Chromecast a HTPC with Windows 7 and Media Center was the solution. Mainly because you as the music plays, could see his picture collection as a nice slideshow. But in the long run a PC on the TV that's got to go somewhere.
Last week I got my new Sony TV get (Sony BRAVIA KDL-50W805). During initial setup Wifi set up and then once tested, what the media portion can so. I was thrilled - he took my videos and was able to play without any problems so far all. I have looked here at Amazon, which Sony offers on BD players and how people assess the media player part. And I've ordered this device immediately connected immediately the following day thanks to Prima and furnishings.
The menu is as in the PS3 (PS4 I do not know). The only thing that bothers that one of the collection must first decide rummaging through what you want to browse. I am in enriches photos - can I find / play back videos. All in all, I can use it but live, I have a (!) Device, which plays Blurays (3D without first having to press a 3D button on the remote control, for example, as with my old Panasonic), which has WiFi and LAN connection, all my media can play plus functional apps like Amazon Instant Video brings (I last used via PS3 only).
This thing is an all-rounder. After all the disappointments I have experienced out with all the media players since (yes, I also have Amazon FireTV in use, just wondering what still ;-)), I have come with this device in close ranks to the point: a great compromise , with whom I can live very well.
Setup and operation are very simple. There was just a software update because it is so continued to work on it.
Yes, this unit was a stroke of luck. For those who want more than just a Bluray player, for those who look for more than just photos, music and videos on stick. The connection to the home network is simply made great and easy.
Shortcomings? Is not really noticed what date. The Open / Close button on the player is a little out to read the label in the dark bad, but you know first where the key is, you no longer need that also ;-)
FireTV? HTPC? Chromecast? PS3? Can anything away.
Thanks Sony.
