I have the CTEK Toolbox (Ladegrät 5.0 MXS with different cables, Bumper and Comfort Indicator for 12V socket) ordered. Upon receipt I once want to determine the indicator indicates the battery status of my two vehicles from the 12 V socket. I can only say that it is in this part in my opinion is a largely useless part. Reason: In my VW CrossPolo ignition had to be turned on for ever is on the juice outlet that is, a convenient loading on the 12V socket is not - or only when the ignition would be possible, which is not well recommended. The LED lights on indicator flashing red then. That meant for me something like: Immediate action - battery close to dying. I then connected the charger. After 15 - 30 minutes - I could not believe my eyes - glowed on the charger 4. LED, which says according to the manufacturer, the battery has 80% charge, and the battery can be used for engine start. Very funny: The indicator says the battery dies soon or is already dead - and the charger says battery had around 80% charge. On vehicles with CAN bus controller (eg my Viano) the battery test with the Comfort Indicator is also only when ignition is switched. Since the system but after about 10 minutes non-use of the electrical system shuts down completely, charging over the wall outlet is impossible here. Otherwise, the same result. The indicator was blinking red. The battery (around the 100 Ah gel) was after 5 hours but fully charged (100%, because the 7 LED lit) This means that if you return expects that these battery could not have been nearly as empty as the indicator mediated with red alarm blinking. Maximum could have been loaded at this time 20 Ah, if you include the declining power charging curve in the 4th loading cycle. That is, even this battery had about 80% charge and had thus absolutely no state that was to be valued at "red". Part Conclusion: The tool "Comfort Indicator" is not suitable for even the roughest status check of the battery and is in my eyes a completely false picture of the real (charging) state thereof. The right display maximum "yellow" been - In both cases, in my opinion, would be tested - if at all. For so-called Comfort Laden can (via socket) this part only use if socket / cigarette lighter directly to the battery (without ignition switch, or CAN-bus) (therefore always ready for use) is like the second battery of my Vianos (separate Circuit separated by a battery cut-off relay). These could then be charged with this indicator also easily via the 12 V socket, in which case the indicator previously flashed green. So there was not much to load. For charger I can only say so much - it has obviously loaded. At the end of the charger showed 100% charged batteries (7 LED burned). Whether the quality of the charging current is now better and the car battery gets better and better protects the car electronics than from cheaper or more expensive chargers of competition, can only prof. Tester notice. Since this charger cuts often from the test winner. What also the charger externally very bothers me is the following facts. The instrument is on the dimensions produces a relatively delicate equipment. Therefore, one has no way of the cable when not in use clean accommodate / wrap on. The cables coming out of both ends of the device (why not just from one side - this was for other reasons more practical) and you have this then probably when not in use and storage of the device just sort of drum wrap around what the bargain through a meaningless big plug (as Schuko but felt unprotected contact soon half the size as the device itself) is even more difficult. Here a normal flat plug (Euro plug 250V / 2.5A would make for totally insulated devices (other manufacturers which) have been sufficient and would be a little more manageable gewesen.Für my mind that falls under the Ergonomics / handling of a device and I think in this context, reasonably . ill-conceived to keep the charger and cable div was obvious the small accompanying bags thought -. as antediluvian. Overall conclusion: I am not particularly enthusiastic about the Toolbox, if an essential tool no good in my eyes. The restrictions on outlet charge (cigarette lighter) should the non-technical customers significantly (he) be made so that it pushes ahead to the above restrictions and not only when the set or the adapter is purchased. The charger is up to the above limitations technically ok. The manufacturer of my Vianos writes a charger CTEK (of course under his own name and overpriced) ago.
Ultimately, I was somewhat disappointed decided not to keep the Toolbox. The service and the rescission of Amazon is simply unbeaten.
