- The display does not make the best impression. The resolution is also not ideal, but workable.
- The glass acts rough and really cheap. It attracts all kinds of grease and grime and can really clean tidy with window cleaner.
- The battery lasts only 5 to 6 hours.
- The much-vaunted Wacom Digitizer is useful, but not very accurate and can not be calibrated at the moment. Especially at the edges, he does what he wants. That he is a bit thin and the key is hard to find, you can get over. Otherwise he would not fit into the case.
- 2 GB RAM are not optimal, but you can work with it well. Delays it shows more on the desktop than in the Metro-Apps.
- It has GPS, which is very useful especially with the recently published HERE Maps. However, the sensor can not be used by older navigation programs that expect a GPS receiver to the (virtual) COM port. For an additional driver (Centrafuse Localizer) would be required.
- The buttons on the edge of things have indeed a pressure point, but are difficult to move. You can press hardly, if you hold the tablet in the same hand. Briefly pressing the On button is sometimes interpreted as a long operation. The tablet then asks if you want to go down there.
Nevertheless, the device is present, the least evil of all available products:
* It takes just every now and then a pen as a mouse replacement. There are some programs and Web sites, which can be operated only with the mouse. Here makes an always available pen that you can not lose, really good services. The alternative would be a Dell Venue Pro, whose pen will be even worse, or Surface Pro or a Vaio Tap, but cost at least twice without offering the dual benefits.
* GPS was important to me for an 8-inch device. This can now probably expect from a tablet. For most Windows tablets is because unfortunately saved.
* More than 2 GB of RAM, there is in this class, unfortunately at the moment not. The alternatives with 4GB of RAM in turn have no pen or are more difficult or more expensive.
My recommendation: If you do not urgently need a Windows tablet, should wait a few more months. Perhaps there is then the ideal device with pen, GPS, 4GB Ram, decent battery life and neatly coated display. Asus is definitely close to it and would have significantly less optimization than other manufacturers.
