Professional Battery Grip f. Canon EOS 5D Mark III Pixel Vertax as BG-E11 battery grip (Electronics)

Customer Review

Almost a year ago I have the pixel BG-E11 bought hoping to purchase a product that provides 90% of the functionality compared to 40% of the price of the Canon BG-E11. This will be a subjective review but less be a short, sober listing of events since my purchase in the first place.

- Day 1
I'm getting to grips incl. Two batteries Ayex by mail. When taking into their own hands, the handle makes a good impression. He is, of course, purely made of plastic and feels accordingly not like the 5DIII on but that was known in advance and is not a point of criticism. After assembling the 5DIII I notice after a short time that the joystick on the camera (not the handle) has a greatly increased sensitivity. This was irrespective of whether the handle is on or off to notice after removing the handle worked the camera back to normal. With the knowledge that the handle obviously Camera Electronics (negatively) affected I decide the issue first to ignore.

- After about 1 week
After repeated use me all batteries drops to that (original as replica) which will be used with the handle will be over-discharged when not using the camera (~ 20% charge loss overnight; 100% to ~ 4-5 days). Furthermore, the charge level indicator of the batteries does not work (again as original replica) almost empty batteries are displayed, for example with 100% charge. After internet research that shows all these problems are known and have been observed by many users of pixels / Ayex replica handles from China.
I write on Amazon a (1-star) review in which I describe my experience so far and announce my problems via e-mail at the same time to Khalia photo because I do not want to return fully functional handle to my opinion (I'm still within the 14-day return period ).

- The next day
I get a call from the company Khalia photo. A friendly staff member told me that you are the problems outlined scratch or concern only a few handles and offers me me several replacement handles send from which I should then pick me a working handle. In return, I shall but ask my Amazon - withdraw review because we can not sell more such attacks otherwise. (At that time there were very few reviews on the product and my former negative but sober portrayal would have prevented the majority of potential customers from buying.) With a bad feeling in my stomach, I agree.
At the same time appears on Amazon, a new 5 star review from customers Schmitty in which the handle is praised and in none of my problems were observed. Curious, I ask by commenting on the exact but I get no response. A friendly gentleman who has read the review and my commentary on it has me point out that it is in this review to the first and to date only from Schmitty and that this is probably a push review. Coincidentally, the user name is a diminutive of the surname Schmitty exactly the friendly staff member who had phoned me. (This review has now been unfortunately deleted.)

- After about 2 weeks
I get another package with three new handles. I try all out to turn and it's just a case which causes no abnormal behavior joystick on the camera. The battery continues to be displayed incorrectly. Full of hope, I use the new handle for a few days only to again determine that the problem with the battery discharge is the same as the previous model. I contact to company Khalia photo and share my decision to want to return to grips with. Phone tells me the kind lady that my problems the manufacturers are now officially known and have been already fixed. They said that they will send me another handle is in order. With a queasy feeling in my stomach, I say yes.

- After about 4 weeks
I get a new handle by post. I'm testing it for a few weeks and notice:
- No joystick problem
- Battery discharge still present but much weaker than previously (~ 10% per week)
- The battery power is still displayed incorrect.
I decide to live with the limitations and begin to understand that you maybe can not have 90% of the functionality at 40% of the price. I keep the latest handle and send the rest of my collection at Khalia photo retour (all my mail charges were taken up to this point of Khalia).

- After approximately 9 months
I install the firmware update 1.2.1 for 5DIII (f / 8 autofocus; uncompressed HDMI output etc.). From now on, an error message appears each battery change a replica batteries which must be acknowledged. This concerns only the replica batteries and has nothing to do with the handle because I have bought but handle and batteries as a set, I should mention it at this point.

- After about 10 months
When shooting, I notice that the joystick on the battery grip has no function. All other buttons still function normally. After I have the handle used for nearly a year with its limitations (the most massive is the lack of a reliable battery charge indicator) I decide finally to buy an original Canon BG-E11. I take again by e-mail to contact Fa. Khalia on, but I get no response.

- One week later
I take contact on Amazon to officially announce that my product is defective and the seller does not respond to my messages. Amazon disseminate this information directly Kahlia on. (Caution speculation. There are in the contracts betw Amazon and external sellers apparently a clause that the seller after a customer complaint on Amazon within a specified time must take a stand.)
Khalia now logs on to me and asks me to describe the problem in more detail. I'm doing this and Khalia agrees to exchange the handle one more time. I ask if I can change the handle surcharge against the original BG-E11 and Khalia denies. (According to research on the website of Khalia picture is clear to me that your professional supplier for camera and photo studio accessories, no original equipment manufacturer of the brand but only replicas from China sells). Another replica handle I want in no case I ask if I can be returned some of the money that I paid for the handle. After consultation with the Executive Board about two week later I get the message that I can be reimbursed out of goodwill rather than a new handle 50. I agree and about two weeks later Khalia transfer the money.
At the same time I order the original Canon grip.

Epilogue:
The batteries, which I had to buy to handle now have both given up the ghost, they can no longer be loaded.
At that time I ~ 120 paid, had ~ 10 return costs of the defective handle and ~ 10 phone long distance charges to Germany (I am an Austrian), so what remains for me is 120 + 10 + 10-50 = 90 loss for but a generous profit on life experience ,

Someone once said Everyone has a right to his own opinion moronic and therefore I would like to not deprive (Attention from here wirds subjectively) my own after that (hopefully objective) Report:
I am now sure that a cheaper replica handle not more favorable than the original. This would be the case if one were to assume mistakenly that basically gets the same product with the same function but this is actually just not the case.
The original cost handle 250 and apart from the fact that he feels much more valent (just like the 5DIII) and is wasserabgedichtet, he finally works exactly as it should. I was stupid that I did not just invested 150 more, would have saved me the trouble incl. 90 loss and had a year to use a great quality can handle.
Glad I am that my 5DIII in order the handle is influenced as I said, the camera electronics and it may be possible that the camera is damaged - what warranty claims against Canon of course negates.

Regarding Fa. Khalia so I would add that I was helped always very courteous and prompt with my problems right after your purchase, now after a few months, however, with much less enthusiasm. By repaying the 50 to Khalia has to receive a replacement handle spared presumably more than 50 would have expected to purchase costs, labor and shipping identified - this is then called goodwill. But I do not want to complain and am glad that I am now on the contrary does not need to sell off on eBay the new handle.

I advise strongly to the original and I get the handle from China not buy recommendation!
Best Regards!
