My cameras are supported by the software with optical measurements:
Olympus PEN E-PM2, 14-42 Kit
Canon 550 D, 18-55 Kit
What did (version 8 & 9) so interesting for me this software, were measured by the manufacturer lenses, their data can be used for image processing in this software. I do not want to set any value as with other image editing programs manually, but rather automatically get the best image results for my camera. Many well-known manufacturers and their lenses are supporting in DxO who want / need to know, can look in advance on the homepage under "Supported Equipment" whether his camera and lenses with this are. Permanent readings of newly released cameras and lenses are extended by the manufacturer. DxO Pro corrected then on RAW and JPEG images already automatically many optical aberrations.
You only need the images in the DxO software load and based on the Exif image properties and data the camera and the associated lens is detected or at least suggested. The corresponding optical correction values can then be downloaded online.
If the own lenses support, the automatic image results without major reworking are quite good. Distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations, noise and more. be corrected in seconds in the image preview.
Many effects can be adjusted manually or by automatic and even saved as profiles. Some adjustments do I then also in the vignetting, color profiles and the sharpness (Unsharp Masking) manually (the unsharp masking is on the PC monitor but still not visible from more than 70% image enlargement).
In the "preset mode" many other image editing options are added.
The image enhancement is already in JPG's partly so clear that you as many high-quality lens may no longer need to buy more to! The RAW format is safe again a tick rauszuholen more quality for the professional!
At the processing speed can not be faulted, quite the contrary (but I only know the 8 & 9-version of this software and work with a 3.4GHz Core i5, 8GB of RAM).
First comparability version 8 / 9s version ... the me which were noted differences:
In the 9-Version me over the 8 version of a slightly cleaner interface noticed. The new workspace provides a bit more space for image viewing. The top menu bar is now missing. The previous 3 steps "Organisieren- Edit developing" were on the 2 steps "Organize - Edit" reduced. The "Develop-step" separated in the 8 version is now implemented via a button on the Edit step. Here now it is also possible to transmit the image export to another application or save it in different formats. Furthermore, some buttons were arranged differently and the activation of individual correction filters are now using switches instead of MCQ-fields. There is an improved noise reduction, new presets as well as several new camera models are supported.
Conclusion:
It is a very comprehensive and powerful image editing program that immediately makes working with the entry mode and the "Hobbybildverbesserer". The big advantage over many other programs on the market is certainly the enormous amount of measured out camera lens combinations that can be used as correction values in the software automatically for image enhancement. I managed a significant image quality improvement for relatively little training period. Two moderately altered images (before and after processing) in the enclosed customer images section.
But who is pleased with the 8-seater version, has in my opinion not necessarily change ... who still use older versions, can certainly benefit from the new version.
There is so much discussed and often DXO depreciated against Lightroom. In my opinion, DxO but rather aimed at learners in the RAW conversion, because Lightroom can quickly confuse with its many setting possibilities. For newcomers who want to familiarize themselves with the matter, therefore, clear recommendation! Initially, one can use the trial version of DxO order to check the suitability ...
Upgrade pricing for DXO was more favorable than the offer here in November-2013. The change from the 8 version on the 9 version was therefore not an issue for me.
5 star - software like that.
