One thing first! Compared to its predecessor, "The Phantom of the sea" is this series a real hammer, but that is not difficult as the previous hard for the title "Worst episode ever" fights. Nevertheless, one must admit that even this piece of work is not just the premium product. The speakers remain surprisingly colorless and is also the occupation per se is not the best. Our cherished three ??? be experienced, but not outstanding staged. Once again I had the impression that the speaker knew in advance that the result is not so good. Thus, only standard was delivered. In addition, it strikes me that the book presentation was somehow better. What still seemed exciting and mysterious in the book comes in the radio play over rather trashy and affects me even unintentionally funny. Positive should be emphasized that music was used, which is not annoying luckily, as they had in the past on several occasions. The story itself is significantly better than it was when "Phantom"!
Conclusion: As a stopgap just fine, but clearly below average. Nevertheless, a clear improvement over its predecessor.
I look forward to the next episode "Demon of Vengeance"! Here the book presentation was the scariest thing the three ??? had long been to offer and is working well here when it has potential to be a real radio play blast!
