In particular, the greatly improved autofocus module of the A77 II and the much higher burst rate in conjunction with the larger buffer memory have attracted me. Additional criteria included as the fastest shutter speed 1 / 8000s (A58: 1 / 4000s), the flash sync speed 1 / 250s (A58: 1 / 160s), the higher-resolution EVF or the stabilized viewfinder. The magnesium housing fits comfortably in your hand and feels high quality. There are more dials, which are by default assigned to shutter speed and aperture. This manual operation is better by hand. The camera also allows a "Microadjust", the lenses can be corrected within the camera with slight front or back focus. This is particularly interesting if you want to work with high-offenblendig optics, since a front / back focus would otherwise be highly problematic due to the shallow level. Wi-Fi is a nice feature, but I do not necessarily need.
The image quality is at the A77 II is better overall than the A58 with its 24-megapixel sensor, as is resolved somewhat finer and more details are captured. While more megapixels have to share on the same large sensor the place, even the noise performance of the A77 II is slightly better than the little sister A58. But that does not mean that the A58 makes bad pictures, but in quite the contrary. The A58 does all right quality images, but Sony was able to increase this high level again and leaves the competition in the Canon camp clearly behind him. Nikon installed now also Sony image sensors, so you should find more compared no major differences here well.
Second, there are things, however, are not so much me.
1. There is no second SD card slot. In a semi-professional camera you would have surely can not accommodate.
2. The battery life is with 400-500 pictures is quite short. For longer photo sessions it is therefore advisable to take two charged batteries.
Overall, I'm happy with my top A77 II. Therefore, five stars from me.
