The best digital SLR to date

After the D70, D200 and D700, this is my fourth digital SLR Nikon.
I also uttilisé 5DMKII a gun and using digital formats.
I've had three days and I have already done a little more than 500 photos.

Compared to the D700, the menus are the same, the greater part of the controls are the same.
The template is almost the same but it seems lighter.
The construction is very good, the quality of the coating of the screen and the "feeling" buttons, it exudes quality. Compared with the competition (5DMKII for example), the grip is much better thanks to the vulcanized rubber.
Nikon is also unique in offering an integrated flash in this range of boxes.

The viewfinder is a true 100%.
What joy to finally have a viewfinder or have seen exactly what we will capture!

Control of the auto-focus has been somewhat simplified, the live-view is less noisy and more fluid.

Some new retouch options have appeared (red-eye correction, color correction, effects ...) and could probably be used directly out of jpegs of the case, although it is not really the goal with a box of this award.

The housing corrects distortion, vignetting and chromatic abherations on the fly: as much time won the editing!

The case is very reactive, the images of which are displayed immediatly press the "play" button, the buffer is more than enough for uttilisation reportage. At no time does not feel the 72MB RAW files!

Obviously, the big piece is the monstrous sensor 36 million pixels.
From this side, but good surprises:
- Images are sharp and pricked without having had to change my goals malgres rumors saying that only racing optics would be effective on this sensor,
- The dynamic is even more extensive than the D700; it shoots against day without problem facing the sun,
- The images contain a quantity of detail and finesse degraded reminiscent medium format,
- The high sensitivity performance is exeptionelles. the sound is very quiet even at 3200iso, and if it resizes in 15MP, it simply disappears!
- I have already said, the EXPEED processor handles these huge files as quickly as if it was small jpegs!

Having only 20mb card / s 1080p videos are slightly choppy.
So I did that video in 720p.
They're beautiful, and you can hop on 3200iso no grain.
I have no problem shooting in night inside.
The sound of the built-in microphone is good, but you need to disable the auto-focus which means.

Like all high-end boxes nikon, it is compatible with all optical Ai, Ai-s, Af, Af-d, Af-s, Af-i. There a menu to get the focus and aperture optical old for EXIFS.

This box allows you to shoot in 50x70 @ 240dpi without resampling.
But beyond this record resolution, the sensor is very powerful and has truly made a exeptionnel.
It is without doubt the best digital SLR 24x36 I uttilisé.
If we consider the opportunity to ride in sensitivity, image processing speed and the small size of the case, this D800 is even better than the Middle 40mp digital formats when the speed and the comfort are important criteria.

I recomande buying a more comfortable and more discreet than the original belt.
Warning: the housing runs USB3, and provides cable is too short for the connected capture.
This will require re-equip usb3 cables ...

EDIT: After a month of uttilisation of the case, I realize that to get the maximum sharpness, change a bit my shooting habits.
The slightest motion blur is seen immediately with non-VR lenses. Eg 1 / 125s at 35mm I happen to have soft images!
It is also close one more notch compared to D700 on virtually all optical for quilting. For example, the 85 f / 1.8 was great for f / 2.2 on the D700, you have close to f / 3.2 with the D800.
it does not change (almost) nothing pdc level, but added to the blur of history, it forces to mount iso faster than the D700 since uttilise both faster speeds and more closed Stops, .
But when the picture is very clear, what happiness!
