POSITIVE:
Feel:
Very difficult (almost 200g) but what I find very pleasant. The rubberised back the unusual and yet very broad format is still securely in your hand. Even the stainless steel frame and the overall good Verabreitung contribute to the very high quality feel.
-Experience After 7 months: Display dissolves lower right of the housing. But was impeccably converted by Amazon and the data from the old Passport were problems anew transferring. So not really a problem. But it seems at devices that have been purchased in December or more frequently occur. Otherwise, the case seems to be quite scratch-resistant. At least I find in my device. This saw the iPhone after 7 months different.
Synchronization with the Macbook:
Contacts, calendars, music, photos, and videos can be synchronized easily via iCloud and BlackBerry Link. This worked on anhib and also far more reliable than the iphone. Even I can from the BlackBerry to access the hard drive from the MacBook and the other way round.
Stream music (Airplay):
Works much less complicated and more reliable than the iphone. It only requires the BlackBerry Music Gateway (price about 30 euros).
Screen:
Really impressive. Really very hot and the automatic brightness adjustment also works very well. Compared this display seems to be as good as the the iphone. 6
-Experience After 7 months: No scratches visible.
Keyboard:
I would not say that you type quickly with this keyboard (at least it was for me not the case), but you type safe (even without added movies) and also makes much less error. The fact that the spacebar is a series hochgerutsch between v and b, is not so strange as I thought at first. The scroll function is very pleasant and works great. Something unusual is for the missing punctuation marks on the keyboard that are displayed on the screen. But also works quite well.
-Experience After 7 months: still a great thing, but it would be really great if you could tap the umlauts better. One has to always hold the appropriate letter, then select on the display the correct umlaut. Would be nice if it would go a little faster and easier, but most recognize the spell checker and even where an umlaut constantly have to go. Seen not quite as distracting.
Format / Size
Also a bit unusual but for displaying emails and web pages more practical than a 16: 9 format. Also eliminates the annoying turning the device. Unfortunately, video and photos have for a fairly large black bars, but it is a tablet anyway much better in my opinion. Generally fits the BlackBerry is still very good and easily into most trouser and jacket pockets. One-handed use is just as possible.
Battery:
Despite intensive use (in the early days almost throughout the machine setup) keeps the battery loose all day. Whether you actually creates two days on a single charge in everyday life to be seen.
-Experience After 7 months: 2 days loose feasible in the not too strong use. For hours watch YouTube videos, however, is then logically no longer possible. By battery saving feature that is activated automatically when a self-adjustable battery level, the battery life extended again considerably.
Software / Hardware
Pleasant is my opinion that something like the home button has been replaced by gestures. The operating system in general is awesome. True multitasking, the BlackBerry Hub and the clarity (eg in the setting) make working with the Passport extremely pleasant and productive. Also falls on that the whole device is running very fast and you spend almost no wait time.
-Experience After 7 months: In 7 months already came several operating system updates. Almost any relatively new features. Bugs I could find in any update. Also saw the Iphone different.
Unlock:
This works in different ways. Either by picking up the BlackBerrys of a surface (eg desk) or by wiping the bottom of the diplays upwards. This works very reliably and quickly and I think is very innovative.
Apps:
Most apps I had on the iPhone I have found in the BlackBerry World. This run also absolutely reliable and fast. The official YouTube app does not seem to be available for blackberry but I have a good (1,79 Euros expensive) alternative called "super-tube" found that I think even better than the official app for the iphone. The Amazon apps from the App Store running rather less well. The performance from the unit does not seem quite so exploited some bucking apps. Even the keyboard is not supported, for example, the scroll function. So rather a stopgap but nice that there is this function. Overall, one can only hope that the market share of BlackBerry 10 smartphones is rising and the developers back to the idea of coming apps for blackberry to develop.
-Experience After 7 months: I have the app "Snap" loaded on the Passport, which allows full access to the Google Play Store. This works surprisingly well and much better than the apps from the Amazon App Store. However Apps with Google Play services are mostly not functional. However, since most games only need Google Play services Google Play Store that is not a problem for me. Thus, one has (almost) full access to 3 App Stores. Accordingly, the app situation is definitely no downside. An instruction on how to "snap" invites to the Passport located later in this review.
Neutral / negative:
Camera:
Probably the best camera is the built BlackBerry ever but this can probably keep up rather less with the iPhone 6. The autofocus is too slow and often located next to it and the white balance is sometimes too warm. Are generally the pictures but already usable and definitely not bad and I eh mainly Scan with a DSLR does not bother me really.
-Experience After 7 months: The autofocus is now already really annoying. He's just incredibly slow and unreliable. Nevertheless, the photos really good if you have then taken once the focus.
CONCLUSION:
There are more features that I would miss if I would now switch to an iPhone and Co as the other way around. I think if one does not come primarily to view photos and videos and you also do not need 700 apps is definitely with the Passport happy.
-Experience After 7 months: Even after 7 months I am definitely convinced by this device to 100%. For me it was just the right choice. I hope that BlackBerry BlackBerry OS evolved and not on the idea comes with Android smartphones to bring to market. Especially the operating system makes this smartphone in my opinion.
Invite "snap" to the Passport:
1. Download Sachesi (needed to the app on the Passport to install)
2. Activate developer mode in the settings from the Passport
3. Snap for Blackberry 10 download (just Google o. Ä. Search)
4. establish USB connection with the Passport
5. Sachesi open and just drag the downloaded file to the .bar Sachesi program.
