Both plates were ordered, delivered, tested and there were no problems - ok SmartCheck, an additional test with CheckDrive 2014 also brought no other result - all right.
In the reviews, is where criticism that the disk (s) were defective from the beginning I could possibly even imagine that these were harmed during transportation - who has ever seen what it's like in a DHL depot who prophesy what I'm talking ...
But now to the plates:
Were installed both boards in the Synology DiskStation 213j and are used in a RAID1.
As through reviews & opinions researched in advance and have expected the hard drives in conjunction with the DS213J a very low energy consumption and low noise levels (both in "stand-by" and under "full load"). The fan of DS213J drowned out the two hard drives even though it is very quiet completely - so the NAS should actually can perceive no disturbing noises of the hard drive.
The temperature of the hard drives reached me even in absolute full load (fill the hard drives with almost 1TB data) hardly more than 30-35 ° C (measured at the housing of DS213J), which is certainly the one hand the good fans of the NAS, as well as the generation of heat the plates per se appears to be very low. (Also known as the plates were connected directly to test it through its paces I could (almost) find no heat generation)
The plates are really working very quickly - with HD Tune I could in both the ordered disks transfer rates of almost 110MB / s notice (of course, before installing the NAS). After installing the NAS, the impression is confirmed from the preliminary test - copying of even large amounts of data (less than 1 TB of data) is actually relatively quickly by hand.
The durability of the panels I can of course at this stage not yet say very much, but it'll catch up after an appropriate time yet.
The price / performance ratio is for me absolutely - Check out only once on the homepage of the Synology compatible with the DS213J plates with 4TB on, there you will find information about the WD RED 4TB any other disk under 250.
I think as a general guideline about the quality you can certainly use the customer reviews of WD 3TB RED :-)
I would advise anyone who is looking for a NAS hard disk to advise the board "one size larger" to buy, as it is needed - I myself need currently no 4TB storage (2TB would currently suffice), but I would very me annoyed if I had to buy in a year in hard drives because the memory is no longer sufficient. Apart from that you just go also significantly more expensive than if you buy the same with the new larger hard drive.
Even if I got Shipped two fully functional boards I would recommend any to the hard disk (s) to carry out an error check prior to use - especially if the hard drives were shipped, and not bought in the store.
I hope the one or to have helped others in their purchasing decision.
