I specify immediately that I got a free sample of this product but I can promise you that my assessment was perfectly objective, fair and honest, I leave you to draw your own conclusion after reading it.
The outer packaging present as often with products Anker, namely light brown carton with white strapping showing a photo of the product and its designation, it is simple, sober and quite pretty.
After removing the white banding and also opened the cardboard box you are left with a small satisfaction as well as a booklet Guide Welcome / Bienvenue multi-speaking guide (English / German / Asian language that I can not identify the latter: p ) and of course the USB 3.0 hub itself packed in a small plastic bag.
It is obvious now, but the hub is a remarkable finish (monohull) and compactness, it will go perfectly with my MBA13 / Macbook Air 13, moreover it is difficult to see a difference in color (see photos) to level of the aluminum used between the hub and MBA13.
Some important technical characteristics:
- 4 USB 3.0 ports (USB 3.0 up to 5 Gbps)
- Self-powered
- Compatible with Windows 8/7 / Vista / XP and Mac OS X 10.2 and higher
- Internal protection against overload + (de) hotplug
- Very compact 96 × 30 × 21 mm and lightweight 58g
- Current Max not to exceed 900mA (to avoid non-stable connections see disconnections). The Welcome Guide clearly explains it (page 4)
Now for flow testing.
So I tested this hub USB3 with material at my disposal, namely a MBA13 with SSD (original Samsung) integrated 512GB External Hard Drive + 2.5 inch USB3 2TB WD MyPassport.
Test protocol with copies of a MKV file type 7.21Go:
Without HUB MBA13 to HDD External WD
With HUB MBA13 to HDD External WD
Without HUB SD to WD External MBA13
HUB with SD External WD to MBA13
In any case, I was treated to an equivalent transfer time of about 65-68 seconds, so it is clear that this HUB USB 3.0 is not a limiting factor in the chain of devices used.
Who is this universal car holder?
For anyone who needs to have more USB 3.0 ports at its disposal, like me typically with a laptop with few USB ports (3.0) Available (2 only on my MBA13)
What can be improved:
Objectively I have no complaints about this, I would still prefer a combo for HUB 3.0 with integration of a Gigabit Ethernet port.
Summary:
