For some time I was looking for a small LCD-TV for the bedroom. After much back and forth my choice met the Sony 22-inch (or Philips and Toshiba was in the selection). As usual with Amazon, the TV arrived well packaged and on time with me (1 day delivery time).
Unpacking and Placement was completed within a few minutes and the first installation took just 10 minutes to complete. The extensive and detailed operating instructions can be explained thereby nothing to be desired, whereby one must mention commendable that a guide seems superfluous for tech-savvy customers. Both remote and menus of the device are constructed in a very simple and intuitive. The Sony offers numerous settings and functions to adjust the TV to the own tastes / needs. But even the basic set up the television convinced me the image with bold, bright colors, good contrast and very low noise / artifacts. Both digital (digital cable receiver DVB-C), as well as analogue stations were all found. From Clouding (cloud formation in bright image parts) was in all settings nothing to see, and also moiré effects (aliasing on diagonal edges) can be found only when you look closely. Of course there is a difference between analogue and digital broadcasts (video / audio quality, color, sharpness), but that is the injected signal and not on the TV. We recommend of course the digital cable signal, since in addition to a wider range of channels (depends ultimately from the cable operator from) especially impresses the image and sound quality. When receiving HD channels, the quality is naturally topped again. Artifacts there are none at all and the picture convinces with excellent sharpness, impressive contrast and vivid colors. The really expansive menus allow naturally adjust picture and sound to your own taste. I would like to mention the automatic picture format switching. In many reviews various Sony models is reported that the automatic switch is not working. I myself can (at least in my case) give the all clear. The TV adjusts the picture always optimal, regardless of whether 16: 9, 4: 3 or Cinema format. Commendable I find the light sensor that adjusts the screen brightness to the ambient light. Concerning the connections, so 2 HDMI sockets, Scart, composite ports, audio out, RCA input, etc. are sufficient. Very nice is the Bravia-Sync function (other manufacturers under other names) in the connected HDMI devices. My Canon and Sony Spiegelrefeflexkameras can be so easily accessible via the TV remote control. The quality of the photos also convinces with very good color fidelity, sharpness and contrast. The playback via USB interface (photos, videos, music) works perfectly and qualitatively without striking deficiencies. The only slight Wermutstrofen is the sound quality of Sony. The sound is very flat and treble sound. The spatial and aural fullness missing. Apologetically you have to say, however, that due to the package size and the small speaker (bottom of the device) no better sound can be achieved. Who here wants fidelity sound, needs to invest in a stereo system. But other competitors do not make it better, EHR on the contrary, many other small TVs sound significantly tinny and swallow the votes. Here scores of Sony with a clear voice reproduction. All in all a skin of the sound, not the stool, but the device size, it is quite adequate and well-classified as to very good.
Summary:
+ Fast, easy installation + Intuitive menu navigation and self-explanatory remote + Very good digital and HD Picture (contrast, color, presentation), hardly picture errors + Good and uniform illumination, despite Edge LED technology + Options for image, sound and connections
+/- Good to very good sound, but a bit thin and treble sound by unit size +/- Acceptable price for the offered performance and features
- Housing design with piano black surface is a matter of taste and is slightly different from other Sony Bravia design - Screen tilt can not be customized
I hope my review was indecisive customers help somewhat.
Best regards Oliver
