The image quality is at the highest level of quality hardly to be desired. The front camera triggers in FHD, 1920 x 1080p on So at 30 frames per second. That is quite enough and you can also mark the two-way traffic usually still clearly visible. The resolution of the rear view camera is 1280 x 720p at 30 FPS also. Those are only half as many pixels and you know the difference even significantly, especially if you look at the videos with the BlackVue Viewer on PC and the rear view camera to full screen on. If you look at the videos eg with the VLC Viedoplayer the difference is not nearly as large as this player is interpolates the missing pixels. Otherwise, I judge the PC program as very successful and clearly and you find yourself without more ado so rightly. In addition, you can view the front and rear shots thanks to picture in picture at the same time.
The lower resolution of the rear view camera, I see but rather critical because you can see everything you need and it also has an advantage: The lower data rate.
At night is back without streetlights course not much to see. But this is completely normal and is not due to the camera but the lack of light. Without the spotlight you would not see anything on the front camera and the rear most vehicles have just no headlights. Once there is some light (eg street lighting or headlight of the rear car) you have a picture immediately.
But also how much detail can be seen depends on the conditions (sun, sun, weather, darkness, Teilbewölkt). A dashcam usually has to contend with very difficult conditions. The lower half of the image is rather dark, the upper rather bright as the sky is mapped. So you have the right compromise to be found to be able to present as many details. If the landscape is a bit too dark, it helps if you usually slightly tilts the camera down, that it shows a little more from the dashboard, because that is also dark and the camera then adjusts the exposure accordingly. Conversely, should also work, of course.
Also, the light intensity often varies greatly during the journey, for example when driving through tunnels. However, the DR-650GW fits here very quickly the exposure to and you can have another good image.
The Park mode I have not tried yet. So I can not say anything even.
What unfortunately lacks is the ability to terminate the current sequence from being overwritten. However, I have the hope that this will eventually submitted via firmware update.
The camera has indeed the wireless button and the motion sensor for muting the microphone. Since it would be certainly possible to use twice as the wireless button, for example, short press turns WLAN on, press and hold saves the current u. Any previous sequence against overwriting. What these two controls could then make indeed be set via app or PC Viewer. That would expand the possibilities of this camera enormous.
Currently, I manage myself by I realize the time when a sequence is to be saved and search this after driving by Handyapp and invite them into the memory of the mobile phone.
Conclusion:
I am very pleased with the DR-650GW far. So I have now found the perfect almost dashcam. You can do everything I wished for and is very discreet, especially if one has a black interior of the vehicle.
The only criticism is the lack of function at individual while driving sequences to safeguard against overwriting.
Therefore, I forgive even four star, it would give this function, it would be a clear five-star rating.
When this function is even submitted via firmware I'll write again a review with 5 stars.
