My conclusion refers to 2 weeks of closed beta + 2 weeks Open Beta + 3 days Head Start (= Release)

Basic
The gameplay is divided into 2 types A) space missions and B) ground combat. Unlike, for example, World of Warcraft is working here with a world server. In order to avoid that too many players are in an area that works with an automatic instantiation (instances can be changed manually). Advantage: All players on a server; Disadvantage: No consistently German / English / ... Server. If the world is waiting for server, no one can play. Personally, I'd just as part of the "Star Trek Feelings" prefer on a (weaker) German Realm play ala wow.

After the tutorial mission of the command gets over his first ship wg. Staff shortages already in the rank of ensign. It basically has full range of motion in the game. Although there probably are some areas where you should not fly at the beginning, because there are some opponents Level a. The flight (ie movement between missions) is represented by a separate map. This is divided into sectors there Map, Galactic Map and System list. By clicking on a system in the latter view, the ship will automatically move to the desired system. Once you this is within range you can enter the system via run (default = F key). The Galaxy Map is currently only one jpg image where just the position of the vessel is indicated by a small dot. In Warp, the ship can also manually control the usual WASD keys. On entering a system follows the instance of change through a loading screen (pretty annoying, later this).

Types of missions

Space Battle
A distinction is made betw. Story missions (programmed) and random missions. The programmed missions relate to different themes in Star Trek. Especially at the beginning, I was happy that I had found a mission, where a director of a mining colony concerns expressed that workers are not satisfied. The workforce One expired. In conclusion, one of the conductors of the colony questions (aim was to find out whether you had read everything). The storyline itself is very interesting and varied. In contrast, the random missions are monotonous and boring in the long run. These are XX different ways:
* Fly in the system and scan for anomalies 5
* Fly in the system and destroy enemy ships 5
* Fly in the System Approach the planet and Scan 4 (ok cast. 5) parts of.
* Fly to the base; Beame on the base; Kill escorts 1-3 + final Escort

Ground Combat
The graph is based entirely or partially on other Cryptic titles (Champions Online). Control via WASD (analog space). Objectives assumes the character independently if you have fixed an opponent. Maps generated random part (depending on the mission). Part but also bugged missions. Especially with random generated missions you're looking for but before 15-30 minutes only to find that the 4/4 does not exist => abort the mission. Tactics = rarely necessary. Dmg> all!

Character / bridge crew
The player can order many different bridge officers depending on the ship type. On the one hand this can be on a starbase, purchase '. On the other hand you get this as a quest reward for the first missions. Each bridge officer (as well as the player himself) specialize in a field of study: Tactics = DD; Science = healer; "Create (in big quotation marks) The player can start his character almost completely dynamically Also his uniform The player's talent tree is still heavily used to even after improvement Unlike Wow not obtained the ahhh...." Technicians = Tank - Effect that one has gained a new ability. This is really rare. By contrast, the cooldown is reduced to certain skills or indirectly skills we improved repair of the envelope. Leveling takes longer automatically. Permanent by completing missions you get points that you can distribute Instant (out of combat). The talent trees of the bridge officers are limited to one for ground combat and one for space combat. In order to promote the officers later need to invest a certain amount of talent points in it. Unclear to me so far is why for example the talent points which have been distributed not completely (!) Gets replaced when you dismiss an officer or replaces one of his abilities by another. What I mean is that it is of course absolutely negative would be the level cap by a faulty clicking his Commander / Captain Bridges officer to dismiss without crediting of points.

Ships (animal)

Guild System (= Fleets)
Also analog other MMO games, there is a kind of fleet system. Unlike wow you can experience the full content to be in a fleet without. It remains to be seen how the endgame content developed possibly one then requires a fleet to certain missions to fulfill. However, currently I see no reason to join a fleet.

Fleet Actions (raids)
Currently quite confusing geballere on certain opponents that are to defeat alone. Ground combat: achieving certain goals (eg laying mines) at certain points.

Playable factions
* Federation
* Klingon (currently without PvE Content)
* Borg (only for live time subscribers)

Positive
* Quite impressive graphics in space combat (for an MMO)
* Already quite stable
* Despite the global server little Lags

Negatives
* Unripe mission concept from the main story.
* World Server System (sorry not my thing)
* No Pve content for Klingons. These are only playable if you have previously brought to a character on Federation side to at least level 6. I'm sorry, but that's not at all. Analogous to wow it would be so that the Horde could only play PvP.
* Borg only Livetime subscribers. I felt already bringing to the man than impudence to the live time SUBSCRIPTION something overpriced.
* Life in the loading screen: Extremely annoying. Often you press only one button to eg in the warp to go ... time up to 60 seconds (depending on the server load and computers).

(Personal) -Conclusion
Personally, I am since the development time of Pepertual Entertainment (or how to write) looking forward to the release of STO. Long before I applied to the closed beta and obtained by luck probably a Beta Key. Now, after a total of about 5 weeks playing time I have to say that the game has potential to be, however, currently still greatly improved. It is my opinion, not at all, that a fraction is to be limited only to PvP. BugŽs are everywhere - not only in new games, this is not a problem even though it is sometimes quite annoying. What personally bothers me is life in the loading screen. It has this not feel (which in my opinion is very important) the one is Captain of a ship. Added to this is that you can change independently instances if you do not like on the site. The launch has Cryptic my opinion with the Borg only Livetime subscription. I for myself got myself a 12 month subscription. Let's see how the game develops .....
