this LED lamp works only when in USB port. This may be especially mine but it was not very useful p to illuminate the computer keyboard and inconvenient to read a book if you have to put the book on the computer. the moral of the story: the color and design make the gadget but if you really want to illuminate your book, choose a real lamp
