I could connect using my 10-year-old 2.5-inch IDE hard drive from my old laptop easily on my Mac and my RaspberryPi via a USB hub, access data and format properly this adapter.
However, my old 3.5 IDE hard drive was not activated (Seems as if the current / voltage was not enough to turn on the hard drive).

So for IDE hard drives, therefore I give only 2 points.
