I must confess, before buying I did not know what to make of this format. Multitasking is occupationally important to me and to gamers suitability and good response times I also put a relatively high value. With my 16: 9, 27-inch monitor I was actually fully satisfied. However promising this monitor, as well as most 21: 9 monitors, a brand new experience in terms of multitasking, gaming and movie playback. Finally, I was overwhelmed and my curiosity I ordered the monitor. When unpacking, I noticed the same in the very elegant style of the monitor. One might think at first glance, he has absolutely no frame! This is due, however, that the frame is almost on a level with the screen surface and over it as the glass covering both to simulate the effect of quasi non-existent framework. During operation it is of course to look at but is approximately 1.5 cm no real concern. After installation and commissioning, I noticed the same on the high image quality and excellent liveliness of colors, but also is not surprising when one umsteigt of a VA panel for the first time on an IPS. At the new resolution of 2560x1080 you have to first get used to. After several hours of testing by both PC and PS3, I can now say with certainty that all my concerns about this type of monitor are off. For the use of Office and Photoshop an ultra-widescreen monitor is already significantly more useful and clearer than a standard Full HD monitor, especially if you, like me, want to have multiple windows open at once. By 29UM65 you can, thanks to a nice features of LG up to 4 different windows at once have open, which for several hours but some can be tedious for the user. 2 and 3 windows in various configurations are also possible and, in the long run, a lot more pleasant. But what has surprised me very positively, is the gamer suitability of the monitor. Games can support this extraordinary resolution are quite clearly the winner. SWTOR, Watch_Dogs and Anno 1404 are mastering just a few of the games that not only can, but also with great success. Cutscenes act almost like movies (yes the the format 21: 9 or 2.33: 1 standard use) and on the UI you have a much better overview of all elements and events. Especially in MMO games to get here absolutely at his own expense. If a game does not support this resolution, then you have the choice between the expansion of the game on fullscreen (although visually but not too good impression makes), or scaling to 16: 9 (where you turn left and right open squares) , Since the PS3 does not support this resolution, the experience is also limited because unfortunately accordingly.
Short and sweet:
POSITIVE +++ Image quality TOP ++ Bluray movies make here particularly fun ++ Chic and elegant design + Read mode = for the eyes after prolonged reading + OSD easily by joystick to use and very clear + Speakers above average, good alternative to external speakers + Multitasking made easy + For performance, low power consumption + HDMI cable included in delivery (unfortunately many suppliers not self-evident)
NEGATIVE - Well, with adjustable height I understand something else than two different levels where you can screw on the monitor either fixed at 10 or 12 cm height - Piano finish = a genuine Staubmagnet
Conclusion: After watching 21: 9 am switched, I will now barely back to 16: 9. And this model from LG is just great. Who needs constant simultaneously with several windows / programs open, preferably no Double / Triple-monitor mode and sets a high value on image quality that can go wrong with the 29UM65 nothing. More clarity is only the 34UM95, but where is closing early because of its 850 per piece for many. For gamers who want to experience something new, this monitor is especially suitable. The 5ms response time is really disturbing probably only hardcore gamers. The price-performance ratio is broadly right. You have to remember that there are still far too few 21 Maintenance: are 9 monitors on the market and the target groups for such monitors but then are a minority, compared to the average Joe consumer. Thanks to the qualitative processing and image quality, the price of 376 (as of 06/07/14) but is appropriate.
