Remarkable book adventure (s). Sylvain Tesson was captivated by the epic tale of Slavomir Rawicz, a Polish officer who described his escape from a Siberian gulag with 5 other zeks during the Second World War ("A Forced operation"). Inaccuracies in the story added to the controversy it aroused denouncing the existence of gulags during the publication of "A forced march" in the 1950s (remember the contempt and hatred aroused when Solzhenitsyn publication of "The Gulag Archipelago" in 1974) contributed to discredit this remarkable book which I recommend reading.
Sylvain Tesson with panache the challenge. So traces the career of this escaped and demonstrates not only was it possible (the crossing of the Gobi Desert was deemed impossible) but also discovers that this is an ancient route of escape totalitarian regimes, from North to South, and currently South (Tibet) to the north!
At Sylvain Tesson adventure regales the reader encounters that he lived in the intensity of effort and discovery. "The axis of the Wolf" is a beautiful invitation to travel in the company of a talented author.
