Halo, Volume 5: Contact Harvest (Paperback)

Customer Review

After 1.3 to 4 volumes of Nylund and "accident" Dietz 2 a newcomer to the "historic" Halo license.

The action takes place 28 years earlier (compared to previous volumes) tells LA and we met. Around and on Harvest, the last planet colonized and granary colonies. And this first contact does not take place with friendly aliens raising his right hand, the other on the heart with the words, "We come in peace." But rather the kind of shoot first and then discuss. Fortunately, two military options, specialized in the repression of Insus (insurgents) were mutated in the sector. For anything else, but they will do the trick in the fight against the aliens, helped by the AI of the planet.

The material was there. But for me, it has not been properly exploited. More than half of the novel takes place in covenants, where power struggles and explanations on religion-based Forerunner relics are going well. May be it is interesting, even exciting for the fans of the game, but I found it quite boring and flat enough in the narrative.
If only, the other half was devoted to scenes of action and fighting between the parties, would it be enhanced the interest of the book, but again the adventures of our two mili in the implementation of Militia are hardly exciting.
Stereotyped characters and quite inconsistent. The style is accessible and popular (but it's a fact that a compliment).

I liked the volumes 1-4 but this latest installment can be summarized in one word: Boring.
