Wishbone Ash was often the group that reconciled both edges. An energetic but melodic music, dueling guitars, but also ethereal arpeggios, both voice and pêchus worked (CSNY in less successful).
For their first album, the English wishbone Ash hit hard! It is rare to see such a successful album on the first try. I must say they already accumulate a lot of talented and complementary qualités.Deux guitarists Andy Powell to the Flying V energetic and fit-in, Ted Turner to the Strat, more bluesy and melodic. Martin Turner to Thunderbird provides big on bass and drummer Steve Upton very energetic, but that would have made his classes in a jazz quintet. This little world sing (except drums) which enables a wide range of voice according to the combinations.
Blind Eye that opens the album is a good old boogie, but studded with small jazzy breaks, additional piano reinforces the groovy song. Lady Whiskey following recalls some heavy riffs of Led Zeppelin, with a voice to Gillan period in rock, but always with two-voice chorus and solos somewhat reminiscent Ritchie Blackmore (The sound engineer Martin Birch produce later "Machine Head" perhaps no coincidence!).
Errors of My Way, little ballad with vocals in the style of Crosby, Stills and Nash, evanescent arpeggios, blues-rock solos, rhythmic style scalp dance (the epic Wishbone Ash).
Queen of torture, re boogie, between voice and Purple Caravan (?), Followed by sophisticated double chorus breaks and large held chords.
Handy begins with a bass solo on two strings, not complicated but fun and original, and which engages on a mid-tempo bluesy, announcing some Dire Straits period "Love over Gold", always the chorus to two (their trademark ) .RE bass solo Bourrée style Jethro Tull, then a totally gratifying final: after a final solo nickname like "The End" of the Doors, they fuck on a small battery sublime solo, followed by a jazzy-blues which treat everyone takes his solo (mention to Ted Turner in a year reminding Lazy, the general Ritchie), voice without words in a pure jazz style, a marvel!
Finally, Phoenix will become one of their warhorses at river and epic concerts (see Live Dates) .Ca starts slowly, then it goes like a load of Navajos, to stop after a speech Ian style Paice drums in the Bronx, Yankee cavalry charge, and the Apaches return home smoking peyote!
Well, that's an amazing album!
