Unsettled by some negative reviews here about this lens, I had long hesitated whether I should actually buy or rather the Sigma 50mm 1.4, but this was not always viewed so positively. Price and weight and the fact that at the Sigma quality dispersion can be very large, but then led me to buy the Nikon lens. I had previously, the Nikon 35mm 1: 1.8, which I had used mainly as available-light lens. 1.4 intensity and the fact that you can shoot with 50mm simply better portraits, had led me to the change. The objective was - though not directly from Amazon - delivered quickly. After about 300 photos I can say that I am impressed by this lens. Whether it was concert photography, portraits, available-light shots, of course in photographic Alltagssituaitonen, in all of my desired applications I can create great shots for me. The fact that in some cases only a shallow depth of field with 1.4 has, is clear and bother me in any way, I use this but for designing the image. I will not repeat the advantages of the other positive reviewers here. Conclusion: Anyone looking for a fast lens with the described by me applications, which had recommended this lens. And 1.4 compared to 1.8 are simply still times in addition light intensity, which are very helpful in some situations, when others have long to pick up the tripod or the ISO number goes up. Is used, the lens on a Nikon D90.
