I have the machine on Monday evening, the 01.02. via normal delivery ordered and today on Wednesday, 03:02. at 8:15 clock in the morning already received. Faster's at a normal delivery is not!
01. First impression after a few hours of use:
The first impression of the coffee machine is very good. The device looks visually very appealing and classy and is in terms of volume a lot smaller than their predecessors.
I now had many years the model ESAM 3400 DeLonghi intensively in use and wanted me after all this time happens to treat yourself to something new. The choice fell on the ECAM model 23420th The more expensive model 23450 I have not taken into consideration, because I myself want to lather up my milk foam and does not want to get a milk container the foam of cappuccino. Have already received some negative statements in the circle here, after which the foam is not long well succeed. I also like to create the feeling the foam itself, simply because it belongs in my view it.
I opted for the model in white, but the color is a matter of taste. Black and red would have been possible.
There are some differences with regard to handling the ESAM 3400th
Remained the same extensive way is in five stages, "normal", "strong" to "very strong" select the coffee strength of "very mild", "mild". Versatile is now the possibility to vary the amount of water. The ESAM 3400 here had only three stages of small-medium-large. The ECAM 23420 now has five stages, namely "espresso with 40ml", "Normal with 60ml", "United with 90ml" "very large with 120ml" and "My Coffee with 20-180ml". The "My Coffee" allows one to program the water quantity individually. Unfortunately, you can obviously no longer reprogram the other stages, which went with the ESAM 3400.
Well I also like the steam button. Once you have let out the coffee, press the steam button and the necessary pressure for the steam builds on what few seconds. Then you can immediately hold his milk container under the steam iron and froth the milk. The ESAM 3400 although I was formerly immediately turn the steam knob, but first had an empty cup underneath hold to avoid that the milk is diluted because initially came always ran out some water before the pressure required for the steam was present. This now falls at the ECAM 23420 apparently gone.
Very good I think now the coffee spout. When ESAM 3400 the cup was level at max. 9-10cm limited. In the ECAM 23420 there are now at least 14cm well, that you can select the cup much more flexible.
The crema is very good, the milk foam succeed very well.
A little complicated, I feel the funnel for ground coffee. This is now placed centrally behind the hotplate. That is, if you - like me - always has one or the other cup on the hotplate, you are doing something difficult to fill the ground coffee into the very small bay. Surely you can get used to it, at the ESAM 3400 but this was to act a little easier.
Of course I can after only a few hours of operation regarding not yet tell. Make cleaning or reliability. I have, however, made me from time to time to update my review.
All in all, I recommend this model to the present time. As a longtime contributor DeLonghi I am anyway very positive for the brand.
