From the outset, one is immersed in the atmosphere of Victorian London of the late nineteenth century, we find ourselves very quickly to Guild members Ae and one of their Aethrynes. The Nemesis appear just as quickly.
The strength of the novel lies in its characters and the universe in place, particularly with regard to those famous Gothans. Based on examples of existing mythologies, the author we created a new. As past of the Guild of Ae which is very detailed and whose fragments are discovered through the pages.
Moreover, regarding the story line, cutting the book out of the ordinary to serve the novel. Here no chapter itself. Only simple separations ordering the text and no page skip intersects the impregnation of this world. From beginning to end, we hold our breath and juggle on the razor's edge between shadow and light. The fears of the characters become ours and we are caught in the struggle between the Guild and Nemesis. The Gothan as much influence our minds and ambient melancholy that we perceive in this book, one that enters the heart of our trackers, inundates us.
Going back to the hero of "In the Shadow out", they have a presence and charisma worthy of the great characters of fiction. William Heinrich and Christopher unveil their talents and thoughts throughout the book. A strong bond of friendship unites them and binds us to their fate. Eileen, they must protect the Aethryne seems unfriendly and arrogant when it is discovered. But over history, it will be in a different light, frightened, fragile, and we want to look after her.
Obviously, without the villains of the story, the heroes are nothing. Syven and offers a very good representative range of men, with all their most vile and most devious. However, their purpose seems noble, at least in appearance. Because after many revelations arrive in time to keep us in suspense.
The outcome is up to the rest. We reach the climax with what we were expecting for so long. The suspense is matched only by the rhythm that leaves us catch our breath. The last pages plunge us into a state which oscillates between melancholy for what happened and hope to one day discover a sequel.
The author blends beautifully genres in the novel where fantasy and thriller predominate and it gives us an extraordinarily rich and very powerful story.
We can emerge unscathed from such a book because the shadows take on another dimension but this is a moment of pure pleasure that reading.
