First the story is set in England in several parts. The first tells us and directed the beautiful gallery of characters who will go to the Pan American Clipper, the most luxurious seaplane ever built when Britain declared war on Germany. We find an English lord who is notorious fascist and his wife and three children. A Russian princess, a lover couple, a boy jewelry professional thief and the chief engineer. We discover their past each and every one and why they wanted to take at all costs this flight that costs the skin of the buttocks to leave their countries to reach US shores. It's very interesting and no history are alike. But there is a "pending" side with Eddie, chief engineer of the Clipper. His wife has been kidnapped and he receives a message from a man who also boards the aircraft with the aim: voluntarily create mechanical problems for the apparatus to land in Maine and then his wife will be freed. It will also Nancy, sister of Peter which he is ready to sell their New York shoe manufacturing company. Betrayed by her brother, she throws herself on the purchase of the bridal suite, the most expensive part of the unit to stop Peter. Among this crowd there to as an FBI agent who holds a prisoner and member of the crew.
The second part, we are aboard the Clipper majestic. At the very beginning of the book we have a device plan to above with all the compartments and the position of all the main characters. It's good to imagine the interior and represent the action. Each "sub-chapters", we follow the whole gallery of people whose stories will intertwine in this behind closed doors in full aerobatics. Bad luck, a huge storm broke out. I loved this novel. Not a single moment of boredom in this behind closed doors. The trip, which initially was to be a magical moment 30 hours of crossing ends in a bloodbath. Very good !!
