I read European Education as part of my literary curriculum in high school. I must admit that initially I was not packed, but as a measure of the pages, Gary takes us in a complex and beautiful universe. Janek supporter becomes a forest of Wilno. One might expect a pessimistic and cruel story about the war, but the author describes especially its point on life. Large values are present such as love, hope, music, art in general and this book allows us to ask ourselves existential questions such as the place of literature in the worst circumstances, thereby keep hope ... In the end, you come out a little puzzled that this reading will never tell you whether to despair of man or believe in him and that's what makes the charm of this book. No moral lesson, but a story that touches us deep within ourselves.
