Diana also faces a one facet did not know what Matthew, returning in this century he behaves like the people of that time and the rebellious spirit of his wife does not accommodate and that's saying; over his hyper protective instinct does not help matters and want too protect his wife he ends up hitting.
We meet many characters from the past Matthew, some very famous and fascinating as appearing in a different light (William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe), all these meetings included the story allow us to discover a little more of his personality and especially his past, it appears as and so different from the cold scientific single of the first volume. His personality changes in contact with these various meetings and make us fear a disruption in the balance of our relationship, but the relationship between Diana and Matthew is stronger than political machinations, intrigues of the court, jealousy of each of others, which is superbly led and exciting.
It is exciting to follow our relationship in the long journey from London to Prague. It's a real history lesson that gives us the author in the middle of a complicated plot but so exciting. Diana and Matthew must constantly monitor their gestures, their conversations in order not to disrupt the future, the mystery deepens as and as we move forward in the story is intriguing and oh additive. Many facts are revealed in this volume, many surprises appear chapter by chapter and it is very difficult to turn the last page.
It's such a mesmerizing reading, and that mastery in writing has Deborah Harkness.
