Customer Review

Another excellent series of traditional French comics (a future classic for sure ...) ending, and Nury Valley and do not miss the conclusion of their "masterpiece", celebrated everywhere. Building on a twilight atmosphere, focusing their final chapter on the feeling of loss and disillusionment of the end of a life, they give a unique depth to their chronicle of a period that also doubtful painful history of France . The endless vengeance of "little judge of Melun" has become a disease, a cancer all the characters in this slow and gloomy descent into hell, and the last time, the reader will have the temptation of sympathy that so brilliantly Joseph talent for business (his resurrection in Mende is a striking moments of this volume) and yet so unable to follow the "right path" amidst the devastating events of the century. This ambiguous sympathy is assumed limit of the series, but also gives the measure of his "honesty" intellectual: who are we to judge a man, even if his actions have proved monstrous? By referring back to back in the conclusion the culprit and the judge, and noting also the link created by hatred, but by love (the beautiful Lucie-iron character, perhaps not fairly treated by the series ...) link that only death can untie (and again ...) Noury and Valley are showing here a height of view entirely surprising fact. We will not forget so soon the agony of Joseph, again a little Jewish child, terrorized by the threat of abject Holocaust which he does not really have finally escaped ...
