Value Investing: Tools and Techniques for Intelligent Investment (Hardcover)

Customer Review

The first chapters are very theoretical and boring, however the suite is excellent.

The bulk of the book consists of articles in "Mind Matters" that Montier published every week when he was at Société Générale. These articles were all published between late 2007 and May-June 2009, in crisis.

It is absolutely great to not only learn simple and effective techniques of investment selection but more for a hot return to the worst financial crisis since 1929 by one of the best strategists in the world.

Montier also devotes several chapters to detail the psychological biases that hinder and prevent the investor to always make good decisions. And above all it gives us the tools to overcome these biases.

In short it is a concentrate of good ideas, good sense, and it's quite affordable for people without advanced financial training. (I recommend to those who do not have at least 2-3 years experience of the stock market and the stock market / financial analysis).

A good command of English is also necessary to fully understand everything.

Too bad the price has recently risen to 30, it's not cheap, but this book is a future classic in my opinion. I can not recommend.

PS: for more economical, wait for the paper cover reissue, it will be cheaper and you will surely update.
