To be honest it took me two attempts for the game, because I'm a fan of the old TR-series and was thus first shocked at how much the reboot differs from it. But when I had got used to it, I was downright entrained by the gameplay and the story.
It is helpful at ease when I note that I mostly (J) RPG and Adventure or 3rd person shooter player'm (ie Uncharted and RE, as well as mood-charged non-shooter adventure games like Majin) - maybe it will help some to know here whether then a buy rating and they respond.
Graphics:
The environment is top. It looks really great on Yamatai or it looks terrible, gloomy and rainy, but graphically it's really good :-) However, what is not so well, the facial features and the hair (the example is in Uncharted around corners better ). Nevertheless, that should not be an obstacle - Lara's no character actress, but a tough grave Slayer.
Gameplay:
Man playing with a bow and arrow, gun, rifle and shotgun. All of these four weapons can be upgraded, either voluntarily or it writes a story before (for example, rope arrows). One finds on the road, when visiting graves and happy explored areas, weapons parts, which can be used later as an upgrade. First of all: Upgrade is easy and goes almost automatically! If someone is not a talented video game weapons makers, you need not shy ^^
In addition, Lara also has a Kletteraxt, with which one can strike if necessary. Clean the forth gameplay, the game is rather intended as shooter. Again and again you come to regions through which one should fight first. Similar to Uncharted, but I have not felt as TR as action-heavy. There are also many sophisticated and varied climbs and in the graves have to solve some puzzles to get to the treasures.
There is also a quick trip function, which can be used for storage points. The game saves automatically of course (and very often!), But in order to carry out upgrades, skill points (ie Level points that Lara by fighting, find treasures, etc. gets) to distribute or to use the Fast Travel function, you have to come to one of these camps , (Do not worry. We stumble over most automatically throughout history)
Story:
Personally, I really liked the story, but it's very brutal and bloody to. (See PEGI and USK Logo) The plot is also very mysthisch, with a Sonnenkönigin, Oni, etc. Here you have the Japanese legend around the island Yamatai and Queen Himiko prescribed, which I found very interesting, since it until today it is questionable whether and exactly where this country has existed.
Optional:
Tombs are optional. In addition to the main story, there are in every major area, one or even two graves, one can discover and crawl. Puzzles included. Who does not like to spend time with his puzzle, can move on.
In addition, there are some challenges (a bit) à la Assassin's Creed (ie, burning 6 Flags, destroy 10 silencer, pillage 5 birds' nests etc.) These are easy to difficult. Depending on.
Relics: In each area there is to find relics, which can be found much later in the game sometimes, when the equipment is complete. Do not stress, there is a quick travel feature. And if you done much, you can also unlock a treasure map with the skills points are noted in the important places. (What a great help when searching is ^^)
Geocaches: Also distributed throughout and searchable by glitter. However, it is almost impossible to find without foregoing all treasure map.
Documents: Diary entries of the enemies, the former inhabitants of the island, Lara's crew, etc. I personally found this part very interesting and I also wanted all documents ambitious because there are many additional information about the story and the characters.
The localities of the objects to be found are very difficult to achieve even with treasure map from very easy. In some passages we have to be very ambitious to be (as I :-)) and want the relic have necessarily to it to create there. Repeated trial and error required. But as I said, that's all optional.
Boss Battles:
Correct boss fights are few. I did not feel as too difficult, but I just had the last boss fight and a lot of luck and also had my arms very well (almost completely) upgraded. More difficult are rather the few passages in which really plays a large number of opponents in the open spaces on a. So you have something tactically.
QuickTime Events:
This game has in some passages very difficult QuickTime events. There was actually a passage in which I've scanned me step by step through the QuickTime event and was able to memorize it. Luckily there are not too many of them but.
Difficulty:
The difficulty Easy and medium are schaffbar for all. Even for beginners! Who likes to play adventure and 3rd person shooter or would play here can confidently access and play easily. There is still some places demanding and not totally boring, but it is also intended for beginners. All other may indeed bite through the higher Schwiergkeitsgrad that I have not tried :-)
Conclusion:
If you like Uncharted, can access safely here. From gameplay, these two games are very similar, I find that TR is more interested in adventure, whereas Uncharted very focuses on action.
Long time fans of the old games are likely to be disappointed. With the old games of the reboot has namely precious little to do. Either you see it as a new beginning of the series, or rather let the finger. I think realistically, to sell, had to change the gameplay, otherwise a number as TR unfortunately no longer keep up. (Which can be good or bad, depending on what preferences you have!)
I personally liked the old parts, but like modern adventure games (just like Uncharted or RE) as well and find Lara has the Reboot done very well. It is, for me, still a certain flair because that makes Lara just to Lara. (Now only has finally come again to the market a Prince of Persia!)
