I ordered the unit via the Marketplace, so I can not comment on the delivery time from Amazon say, but experience has shown that this is usually very short. The decision has been made on the X8 because it runs fast and flowing, Android is installed and my predecessor mobile phone by Sony Ericsson was (W890i).
- Price-Performance:
For in my opinion, really small sum of about 170 you get a well-equipped Android smartphone. On board enough equipment to the unit to make is that you need in everyday life.
Processing:
The mobile phone is processed according to the price, the three buttons do not feel as bad as I thought, and the pressure point is well chosen, maybe even a little too tightly. A small drawback is the slightly creaking back, but this can be resolved under the battery cover by inserting a paper, cardboard or thin foam strips. After that, the phone makes a good impression. In addition, it is partly by Rounded ends back comfortably in your hand.
-Telefonieren:
The call is pretty simple despite missing Höhrertasten (green and red button). For incoming calls, a slider, which you can slide left and right to accept or busy tone sending appears. That works pretty well. Furthermore, you can also quite easily and quickly a number type (virtual phone keypad), last view dialed numbers and call or select from the contacts. The voice quality is very good and also very loud at maximum volume (speaker also good). Also I like that you can hear the conversation in another way via 3.5mm jack. Is connected with a headset, the microphone on the device remains active, with a headset the external microphone is used accordingly.
-SMS
A really great innovation is the structure of the SMS menus Instead of the division in the Inbox and Sent messages are in the SMS menu only a list similar to a chat. If you then select a contact, the entire (SMS) messages during the messages sent and received messages at the right edge appears in the form of chats, in the left margin. This presentation is in my opinion much easier and clearer.
Additionally, I have installed the application "SMS Popup".
Keyboard
The QERTZ keyboard can be operated in portrait and landscape orientation. I have slightly larger fingers and have to say that I still use the smaller keyboard in portrait mode better get along as the great in landscape mode. Initially, the tap is a bit annoying, because you often make a mistake, but with a little practice typing is really fix.
Screen and display
The device's screen is very good, the resolution is quite high, contents are reproduced sharply, the colors are strong. The display is also bright enough and readable in almost any situation. Only in direct sunlight, it is not so bright, but remains readable font. The touch screen responds quickly and with even the slightest touch, it is not really necessary pressure. In the scroll through menus and applications, you realize that a lot of emphasis was placed on beautiful animations. And that's a good job, it always looks chic and runs smoothly. For me this was a criterion which has contributed to the purchase, because many current phones with touch screen in this price range only stutter so there's no tomorrow. My recommendation is to use the ADW launcher, as the Home screen interface of Sony Ericsson allows only one widget per screen.
Camera
There are better phone cameras for snapshots but it is okay, I recommend to take pictures rather a normal camera.
-Android
Unfortunately Android 1.6 is installed, but an update will come later this year. I personally have no problem with the "older" firmware. The big selling point of the apps available for me in the foreground.
-Internet
Surfing the Internet (WLAN and GPRS) is reasonably fast (record was one second for a 0.facebook page via GPRS) and it is also relatively pleasant to scroll. But for hours of surfing the mobile phone is not really suitable. An Internet-Flat is an advantage as Android now time living from the Internet.
(For users without Internet Flat I recommend a look at times MapDroyd and WikiDroyd throwing)
Battery pack and connections
The battery is empty with constant use, unfortunately, quite quickly, but in standby it holds relatively long. WLAN, GPRS, GPS, etc. consume a lot of power, and should be turned off when not in use. A plus is the USB interface which has replaced the old (really bad) Sony Ericsson interface. Furthermore, a 3.5mm jack is available, what the use of headphones etc. very easy.
I've been thinking for the small minus points to give only 4 out of 5 stars, but the unbeatable price makes for a perfect score. Kudos to Sony Ericsson!
