With "Omen", the Berlin band "Blutengel" a real board rausgehauen and could be compared with the successful album increase "Monument" again. "Omen" works in large parts very nostalgic, dark and difficult but nevertheless emotional - matched lyrically and musically clever because everything fits together! Omen really impresses through sophisticated and well thought-out arrangements - you realize exactly Chris Pohl had a plan he has implemented perfectly. Musically the album is expected to appeal to a broad mass, except this gloomy and melancholy songs are fast and danceable tracks on "Omen" at the start. Hard techno electro beats on songs like "I'm the fire" or "Holy Blood" heating the listener but enormous and will surely bring to shake the dancefloors of clubs. Songs like "We are what we are" and "The war between us" not only impress with great melodies, but also lyrically from the top drawer. Ever put "Blutengel" conspicuously often with socially critical issues apart, intelligent music that should provoking the listener!
In "Give me" Ulrike Goldmann can prove really what it is for a great singer, ever would be my only criticism of that they do not often vocally comes to the fore. However, this is a matter of taste and does not alter the excellent overall impression the "Omen" does - this is called "whining on a very high level"! :-)
My highlights of a very strong album are rather quiet and ballad-like song "Sing" as well as the fast and powerful numbers "Fire in the distance", "Save us" and the upper cracker "Ashes to Ashes"!
My conclusion: With "Omen" Blutengel is once again managed a really strong album.
The songs are musically and lyrically very varied, so that comes at no time boredom. Who could Blutengel in the past should definitely have some fun with this album, for newcomers would be this album a good start, but it is in my opinion the best thing that Chris Pohl has created in his long career.
A good "omen" for the future ............
