The Razor's Edge (Audio CD)

Customer Review

At the beginning of 1990iger wanted AC / DC to know again: with an immensely powerful album, AC / DC played back into the collective consciousness of the music world. Because the mid-1980's eked of handmade Hardrock band there more of a marginal existence. Despite unimpressive acting changes within their music at the beginning of the 80's, AC / DC were their concept and their idea of rock and roll always faithful. The dignified previous albums were among the fans but in spite of one or another sales success seems only moderately to predominantly. With "The Razors Edge" AC / DC kicked off again to storm the rock n'roll-throne.

Brian Johnson sounds as if he had gargled razor before recording the album, drowning out the guitars as if their fingerboards would burn, the swinging bass prances like Cassius Clay in his prime, and Chris Slade's powerful drumming tilled the eardrum as artillery fire , So aggressive and famished AC / DC had not been on board at the time. They brought with them not only an irrepressible joy and a great sound, but also some enthralling compositions. Particularly hard AC / DC rock N'Roller like "Thunderstruck", the ultra-brutal "Fire Your Guns", the jaunty "Rock Your Heart Out", and the cool "Shot Of Love", the AC / DC testify again more fire under the butt had, and were accordingly ravenously. Especially "Thunderstruck" is an opener as you probably had him write only. The number initiates a thunderstorm, the one ringing eardrums.

How there can complain about an allegedly poor production, is a mystery to me frankly. Of course you can not compare with the whole of the 1977 Sound of 1990 so mangy and organic is "The Razors Edge" not, but bangs actually pretty clean. Produced by Bruce Fairbairn (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi) can attest that it was produced very clean the album perfectly. But I did not get the impression that AC / DC doing particularly have be tamed. Not only the overall sound is quite strong and powerful, but especially the guitar riffs come across quite bold. As if you get a cut on the bell. When I came across the 1990iger for the first time on "The Razors Edge" center, I was amazed at how heavy is the album. Mich have AC / DC alone in terms of hardness much more excited than Manowar. That may of course be only the impression of a Würmlings, but I have somehow preserved a little.

For something quieter and more bluesy songs, however the force comes across not as violently. These kinds of songs abound on Razors Edge but also some. Bluesy, but funny caption, such as "Mistress For Christmas" or "Got You By The Balls" but correspond for the good mood of the rock band for which they have always been. It may be that you can see under those songs the much-mentioned filler, I do not share such a view. I can very well listen to the album in one go, and have my fun. In my opinion there are at AC / DC just a certain level that is never reached, and "The Razors Edge" moves at a very high total AC / DC level. Lyrically, however, could be the cloak of silence over wide; as usual for AC / DC, it is too abundant lewd and raunchy. The song titles speak for themselves basically.

Particularly great AC / DC numbers I would still like to mention the somewhat mysterious and sinister theme song, the mischievous "If You Dare", and the fleet, blues-rocking "Money Talks", which testify to the fact that AC / DC within their style were maneuvering succeeded and "Are You Ready" and even "Money Talks" and contemporary hits on their terms deliver.

At that time, AC / DC have long since arrived in the MTV era. The clips helped to catapult the album in the highest platinum Riegen. With "The Razors Edge" AC / DC were back at the really big successes in the early 1980's build and parlous state of their status. Man discovered the band as a sort of bastion of honest rock N'Rolls again. But nevertheless is "The Razors Edge" not the antithesis of their albums of the 1980's. The difference is in the big hits like just "Thunderstruck" and "Money Talks", and the great production, the AC / DC for the world of rock music freshly resurfaced. For Verkommerzalisierung in their music but I never was able to discover a reference plates. Neither here nor elsewhere. "The Razors Edge" heaved the band managed and fresh in their third decade.
