Prodigy: A Legend Novel (Hardcover)

Customer Review

It's Day and June, although managed to flee together to Las Vegas, but now they have to rely on foreign assistance. Day is still seriously injured and alone they will never be able to discover Eden. The only people to whom they can turn to are the patriots, but they ask for your help one in return. Only when they both join the patriots and to participate in the execution of a particular plan, they will provide medical Days leg and identify Edens whereabouts.

No such high price if the Patriots had not calculated the murder of the new Elektors in mind. Day is willing to save all, to Eden, but come June doubt. What if the young successor is not a new tyrant, but the Republic could actually change for the better?

Prodigy is a sequel that can keep up with its predecessor not only, but those even effortlessly surpasses and thus definitely not one of the often faltering middle parts of trilogies. Marie Lu manages seemingly easy the reader from the first to bind to the last line of the story and make it as an unforgettable reading experience.

During the first part, Legend, still relatively slowly began already takes the second part on the first pages quickly to gain momentum and the author lets the action rarely come to rest, so the tempo remains constant. Again and again Day and June on the run - be it in front of the Republic, the patriot or the colonies - help carry out secret plans or looking for a way to precisely this again thwart. Therefore boredom does not guarantee, and we have reached more quickly at the end of the book as it is a loving, because it means that you have to wait almost a year to the final of the series now. And that falls far from easy, because Marie Lu confronted her readers in the last pages even with a shocking revelation with unforeseen consequences.

In addition to many exciting places, the one more than once take your breath away and speed up the heartbeat, succeeds Marie Lu, mainly due to the complicated relationship between Day and June to show deep emotions and to also come up with the reader. There are romantic moments, in which one in the belly almost can feel even the butterflies; Words that are so offensive that they break your heart; Traitors who make a furious; countless terrible knowledge that a loss for words; a deadly truth that makes one despair and poignant moments that stir one to tears.

The second volume is also again portrayed alternately from the perspectives of Day and June, which is equivalent brings several advantages. On the one hand you can learn so always firsthand what is going on in each case with them, which is necessary especially in the periods in which the two are separated from each other for various reasons. There are on the other one the opportunity to get to know better the two protagonists.

Days feelings for June provide both in its interior and in its external environment for diverse difficulties. He likes them, she probably loves even though this risk his relationship with Tess that he also loves indeed, but more like a little sister than like a lover. Other place he defended June, while he gives her partly also to blame for the death of his mother and his brother, or at least can not be denied that it is partly responsible for. Although he has been familiar June, he can not prevent the doubt of the patriots to their loyalty spread to him and he begins to put them and their acts in question. Far too often it reduces its value to the content of his empty pockets and believes therefore not good enough to be for June or not being able to compete with other potential competitors.

It escapes him completely, what effect it has in fact to June, which apparently never find the right words to make him understand precisely in its proximity. As much as she had never worry about money, so uncomfortable she feels now, when she is surrounded by luxury, because they now know how bad things are for other people who would have deserved better. For Day, they gave up everything and left her old life behind him, but this is of course not gone without a trace past her. Your whole world is collapsed and after it has been stripped of all their earlier illusions, they sometimes do not now what path they should take, on whose side it really is. She wants to help his little brother to find Eden Day necessarily, although it is not fully behind the objectives of the patriots. She disagrees with the injustice which has inflicted the Republic of her family and so many others, wants the Republic but not see perish, but change for the better.

While Day is guided by his emotions, his rage at the Republic, in particular its government, more and more free rein leaves and his desperate desire to find Eden makes him forget his former morals partially, June tries to keep a clear head for both of them and to rely on their intuition. Day sake she agrees the patriots to help familiarize them but not blindly, but questioned, at least in secret, their plans and designs. You can not just use for their own purposes and raises it to take countermeasures, if it considers it necessary from the outset. And that's also in the interest Days, which unfortunately only towards the end finally realizes he can trust unconditionally June and they work best as a team.

But you can learn not only more about Day and June, but also about a few of the minor characters, in particular Thomas, Kaede, Tess and Andes. The actions of Thomas and his still blind obedience remain as little comprehensible as usual, even if you even now can better understand him. Tess loses due to their lack of confidence and the resulting decisions unfortunately rather on sympathy. Kaede and Andean win but lots of affection for themselves and they learn to appreciate. Especially Andes ensures positive surprises, because he is his father not at all similar. Citizens of the Republic seem actually to have at heart and despite so many stones he be placed in the way, he is determined to improve conditions him. It does one therefore really sorry that his feelings for a certain person not to be returned.

In addition, you now get more information about the history of the Republic and how and why the United States, as we know, two separate states were made, who declared war on each other. In addition, you get a short but revealing insight into the colonies, which are not natural paradise, the Republic some residents have dreamed.

* CONCLUSION *
Prodigy is a terrific sequel that surpasses the trilogy beginning again and heading for a thrilling finale that you will be missed under any circumstances. Marie Lu succeeds at first sides to draw the reader into their spell and then tie him to the last line.

Day and June are not only a fantastic team, but also a great couple, and after this second volume you wish for nothing more than that the author their figures at the end of the last volume begrudge the happy ending that the pair now has more than earned it have!
