A grand space opera

I have read some of the reviews whereas Peter F. Hamilton does not renouvellait and offered a derivative of the "commonwealth". Certainly I found in this novel everything that makes the leg of Hamilton, a complex world unbridled capitalism and conquest by a not particularly humanity as a handful of planets through portals. These portals provide instant teleportation between Earth and colonized planets caused directly or indirectly wealth of some families like the "North". (It also includes the English title of the book Great North Road). Human at that time (in 2143) found no evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence.

But I find that the angle chosen by the author is particularly subtle and interesting: a murder of a family member North in Newcastle, complex murder since it seems that North is unknown and not listed. This survey is the starting point of a more complex adventure based on an abundance of stories and destinies allowing us to discover a rich and detailed universe. This first volume will discover a threat to the hummanité that appears watermark. Complex characters, conspiracies hatched on which of several worlds and take decades to develop, aliens (or abscence), I adhere to 100% for the universe makes me dream and I n 'have a hurry, read the second volume.
