Space Opera at its best!

Saga Volume 1 (Saga (Comic Series)) (Paperback)

Customer Review

Hussa! How many times I thought this comic in his hand and then not bought it me? How often? Argh! But last week it was ready!

Now that I had been so long hot on this comic, my expectations were really high. We read indeed en masse great reviews about it. But unfortunately I have to admit I was not convinced 100%, let's say, just as 90%.

The plot is based on certain Space Operas and basic story is the tragic fate of the young couple, who are actually on warring sides, and witnessed a child. This may sound corny now only once, but it is in any way. Both parents are strong characters and humorous protagonists who see their not very favorable situation also has a positive and sometimes even can amused.

A definite plus is the strong dialogs and many different characters and especially their designs! Many are involved in what is happening and yet pursue their own goals.

But something was missing. Some passages were me not thought through well enough. So you are looking for as a mysterious place that there is actually only as a fairy tale, and the reasons that the planet is not yet fully explored and it could possibly exist yet. Now, since the two can run in a few days there! In addition, the planet is much more sophisticated than our - and then is a place relatively close to civilization still completely unknown and unexplored territory? Even if you need to find him a few tricks, he is under the open sky and would be visible from the air.

I guess I was just too impressed with the latest comic series (Pretty Deadly) which I began. This was through and through a magnificent high-quality artwork and incredible depth. Could me namely with the artwork of Saga not really make friends. The illustrations at the start of each chapter are beautifully simple, unfortunate that this detailed style not completely pervades. But as someone who knows the effort behind comics, because I can understand this shortcoming very well.

Still, I liked Saga. As much as I criticize it, so it was also pleased me. It is a complex storyline builds on, forming a successful mix of fantasy and sci-fi elements, it is creative in terms of characters and creates for this also extremely likeable traits. At times it can be really absurd, which simply maintains just incredible. This is probably what makes this series so great: She is successful in a well-to entertain and you just want more - more - more. Exactly the goal, which should meet a good space opera.
