Live Traffic at its best, the rest so-so ...

TomTom GO 6000 Europe navigation system (15 cm (6 inches) touch screen, 8GB of internal memory, QuickGPSfix, TomTom Lifetime Traffic & Maps) (Electronics)

Customer Review

I have bought a 90% weighting for 6000 Live Traffic. I need a Navi daily professionally, I use TomTom for several years because of Live Traffic. A Navigon (RIP) is significantly more pleasant to me as Navi. Live Traffic is the workhorse of TomTom and I have the impression that one is resting on something. Anyone who travels a lot professionally, does not come around drum, sink or swim. Other offer Navihersteller the Live services, lagging light years.

So: navigation and route planning and Staumfahrungen are at its best. Compared to earlier models, the satellites are found quickly, the navigation itself is carried out smoothly. I have a car with low-e glazing, this dampens the signal, in previous devices was partly not much that is 6000 as a step forward.

Disadvantages:

The automatic map zoom (high speed motorway -> City for example) will not work properly. In the city, the zoom level will not fit, for example, I see a road that leads straight ahead, should I turn in 400m. On the map is nothing to see it, except small arrow in the center above, the view of the map has not even crossing it. Degrees in the city there are eg the left and turn half left, I would like to know in advance which of the two roads now?

In 1015 that was better resolved. I have a 6 inch screen, which is however not utilized properly. Of course, you can manually change the zoom level, but that fits then in other situations 2 minutes later not again ... TomTom should as much rework, with the older devices, it went so well ...

The voice control works for me hardly at all, TomTom often does not understand me, the annoying, although I speak clearly.

There is only one male voice that can announce street names well, that is too little. The voice is still choppy, some names are mispronounced. The Choppy pulls itself by some models, is therefore not a current problem. Other Navihersteller get even there! It is understood, but is nice and something else that is for example as a point where I think TomTom rest on Live Traffic. One lives just so, because there are no alternatives to the competition.

Conclusion: The frequent traveler who needs to struggle through the traffic every day, can not drum rum to buy a TomTom with Live Traffic. That's very awesome and saved me for many hours of storage. Otherwise also have other manufacturer Navis beautiful, the dream of many, what you read out to be a Navigon TomTom Live Traffic. But I would also again drauflegen 1-2 certificates. I have no problem with it 500 euros to pay for a Navi if it is really TOPP. Let's see what the future holds, there are indeed some updates announced yet and I really hope that there's what.

I feel sorry for who bought this Navi a year ago, as the software was still stripped down and unstable as it is now. Also, since TomTom should're working on, please submit only devices on the market if they work and at least the basic functions are all available. These include closed roads just as important as voice control or liquid, natural voices and an automatic map zoom adapts. If no longer a light sensor is available, it should at least be switched automatically in the tunnel on night mode.

I would also like to again a current time! TomTom thinks that would no longer be necessary, any modern car has ne clock in it. While this is true, but it's about the information at a glance to grasp quickly. It is anyway not soooo great (traffic safety) to see on Navi place on the street, when I have to look and perceive even the clock next to the Navi, the view is again a couple of tenths of a second longer off the street. Those are the subtleties that simply missing and there is enough then only 3 stars.
