Metallica - Live Shit (Binge & Purge) (2 DVD + 3 CD) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

After I had heard through a friend some recordings (including Battery) of this CD / DVD set, it was clear to me that I would buy myself this set. After eternally long waiting I could actually get hold of a copy on Amazon.com.

The 3 CDS

- A well-distributed over 2 days concert in Mexico City - great atmosphere, all the great Metallica hits are represented, among other things, Fade to Black, Sanitarium, Master of Puppets, Battery etc.

The crowd is great, Hetfield and his wonderfully diverse voice (from rough Battery-droning for sensitive Sanitarium, Fade to Black & Nothing Else Matters) be in top form, and also the rest of the band with their performance no desire left. The mix of public and instruments is very well done and superimposed no important places (unlike, for example, in In Flames -. Live in Tokyo, where you could hear only the instruments actually, during the Publik could be guessed as background noise).

It is disappointing for me but the fact that is the version played by Master of Puppets just 4:35 minutes and the great solos - this in my opinion an important song to a Metallica CD - missing (unlike, for example, S & M, where the piece is around 9 minutes). Hence the missing 5th star.

The 2 DVDs

- The DVDs are packed with the concert recordings in Seattle or San Diego-fucking-(to quote Ullrich, of the concert in San Diego initiates with a small home video). The songs are similar in compilation with those on the CDs, the big hits are missing no way, it can be found songs of Kill 'Em All, Black Album and the other CDs from Metallica forged again.

Pleased me again the great audience that skillfully animated to sing, cheer and other things Hetfield. After the first 8 or 10 songs the guys also make them a break, the Jason with some bass solos filled to further heat up the audience. Later, a kind of drum battle between Lars Ullrich and James Hetfield, the supply at the two standing on stage drum sets a heated skirmish game with fast drum deposits for the favor of the audience follows; Ullrich takes before a huge drum thunder from, Kirk is a very long guitar solo for the benefit and at all the band members are as sympathetic, audience close to musicians across that do not simply take the stage, downplay their songs and then disappear again - time for faxes and nonsense always there.

Technically, both DVDs are fine, good cuts of the film material, the usual scene selection; good image quality and a great sound complete the package.

Despite the aforementioned shortcomings with MoP this package is highly recommended - it provides entertainment and best live music (with a goose bumps factor that intervenes as opener already in Enter Sandman and every now and then sets up the hair when a song is introduced and the cheers from the audience aufbrandet) to anyone who can do with Metallica something.
