For Star Trek Online you need a good computer if you want to play with maximum details. Star Trek Online requires despite your skill more resources than Lord of the Rings Online!
There is only one server and the whole universe is instantiated! There Ladebalken when you change the location or enter the turbolift. Only a fixed number of people fit in an instance. One can make on request all quests alone or together with 4 other players, similar to the principle of Warhammer Online. In so-called Fleet Actions are then even 20 players! The battles take place even liquid when as I said has a good calculator.
The missions are basically always the same. You can reach the target star system and then is first fought in space. Then sometimes you beamed to a planet to continue fighting there and then it beamed back to his ship to eventually fight in space again, mission end. If you want you can switch between by scanning anomalies in space and on the ground. One then obtains samples that can be used to upgrade to Memory Alpha found items.
Despite the many Ballerei the stories of handwritten episodes are interesting. Trekkies now and meet descendants of Charaktären from film and television, and there are many allusions to previous actions. But usually it is normal patrol missions in which one of 0815 reasons crumbles opponents or scanned items. Missions like "collecting" and "Bring me" there is not even !!! Endgamecontent is currently (as of 27/02/10) does not exist, but coming soon. There is then also fought ...
A permanent solution is not currently the standard Quest course for me. Eventually the 'umpteenth Geballer is also uninteresting. Especially since the main motivation, ie a new ship and new skills is no longer possible, as soon as you, that is Rear Admiral has reached the maximum level. Stupid I also find that at some point all admirals and T5 ships fly. In Starfleet but not the whole nozzle admirals with Super ships through the area and make the tasks which actually fall the Captain's Starfleet. You start the game as an ensign and Levelt himself up to the Admiral, but compared to other MMOs is comparatively fast! Pro Starfleet rank there are 3 ships to choose from. And so a little variety comes into play, there is the possibility his ship to miss more than one color or to combine various parts together from the 3 ship classes.
While you fly around with his ship, but Captain really is not one. It is at least not the feeling that one is Captain, since you meet any decisions, consider the consequences. One does not have the choice of how to do it, whether diplomatically or aggressive. It is always provided with a fait accompli and follows a linear course, which already leads now so soon after release by half the galaxy. Quasi all enemies that exist in Star Trek, was already a mess in Siel. Let's see what Cryptic comes up with in the future.
What STO need more diplomacy, initial contacts, real research missions, ship interiors and simply more diversity and complexity. And that's a multiple choice possible in MMOs, Age of Conan has proven and Bioware, the Star Wars: The Old Republic to prove, including decisions and consequences ...

With tactics of the ground fighting has not much to do. Is fought in the Third person perspective. While you can grant his bridge officers commands and position sent to hand out flank damage. But necessary is not that! It simply holds the gun on it until all are dead.
Weltallgefechte are far more interesting, beautifully animated, enriched with great special effects and Star Trek sounds. There are all sorts of weapons, known from the series, which presuppose the fire all different angles. So turning his ship, so you can bang out the fore and aft phasers a broadside, then we swung the ship back in the direction of the enemy and ballert pure 3 torpedo. This is repeated until all are dead. In between, you have to watch that the enemy is not always raked the same side of the ship, because otherwise the shell is damaged and the ship explodes, once the envelope has reached the value 0 percent. However, it does not matter if you die. Currently there is no penalty for dying's, whether on the ground or in space. Death Penalty but it is pending! The bridge officers dominate both the ground as well as several specialty's All abilities that make the fight. Depending on the career you have chosen to start for their own avatar, one fights mainly with other skills. Depending on your preference, you can his bridge officers but can also learn other skills.
To skillen himself and his bridge officers need you skill points, which you earn by making missions. Through missions you get even Starfleet merit points with which you have the opportunity to acquire new bridge officers or even to convey this or can let them learn other skills at LAP. But you can also buy bridge officers at the auction house or as they say in Star Trek Online in the Exchange market. As is common in MMOs let opponents equipment fall with whom you can be yourself or ship and equip his bridge officers. There is also the possibility to earn marks in PvP instanced battlefields or in so-called research missions. These can then be exchanged for valuable items. However, research missions are even stupider than the patrol missions and it also does not take long to equip his ship and his bridge officers so that they would be busy for weeks. Unless you only play an hour a day.

In my opinion, Star Trek Online has no more level than a browser game compared to other MMO's. I know that Star Trek Online is new on the market yet, etc. Nevertheless, the game with the competitors must measure, because players who are already bound to MMO's and may have change intentions, think about what game the monthly fee is worth more. And currently you get simply offered more for your money in other games! If I had the money, I would indeed buy a Maserati instead of the new Golf, although the golf is not a bad car.
Despite the shortcomings I love Star Trek Online currently still fun. This is probably because I am Trekkie. In any case, it's a nice change after all these years with fantasy MMOs. So if enough of orcs and elves has or Trekkie is, should you! Do not expect that Star Trek Online puts you in the world of the series and give the feeling that you would be a part of it. Then you will namely be bitterly disappointed! Even the old game Birth of Federation has more Star Trek exudes atmosphere.
