A graphical Bible!

Books on rock poster art (still marginal phenomenon in France), he eventually are many, but most of the time they are turned to only one artist: Brian Ewing, R. Black Emekou yet. He finally are very few books that sweep the whole matter, except for the unavoidable but very thick and impractical Art of Modern Rock: The Poster Explosion.

So it was with some glee that finally welcomes a French book on the subject, and which book !!! Didier Maiffredy knows about it, tireless collector, exhibitions organizers, recognized speaker and founding president of the Association of Arts Rock, it is the work of a passionate and given that this is Frank Kozik who preface to the book, you soon realize the seriousness of this book.

More than a concatenation of reproductions, it is a real dive in this graphic universe that we are seeing: History of the phenomenon (of psychedelia to punk, to the contemporary explosion), panorama of the scene, obviously American, but also global, influences and references (pop art, new art, embezzlement, etc ..), teeming with technical details (making a screen printing, business model artists), true course of art history and / or rock, all, of course, superbly illustrated with countless posters (about 150 artists) and, for some of them the "original version" of which they are drawn.

Also great to watch as exciting to read (because yes, the text there, and not a little), arguably the most comprehensive book on the subject and it is due to a small Frenchy .... crowing;)
