But now to the test on my Sony:
I have set so that the comparatively low-gualitativ circuits of Sony Sony to let the noise "Low" the noise floor as low as possible. Den Rode I have in all situations (also indoor) equipped with the DeadKitten.
Now the Rode has 2 options. Once I can make a clip in the upper heart area put to suppress background noise and hum High frequency (road). The second option is to change the level. -10dB, 0, and +20 are here to choose from. Compared to the already really good in-camcorder Mic Sony a further reduced noise floor. But otherwise no merliche advantages in the field of local Präzens and clarity. With + 20dB spokesman can sometimes distort significantly behind the mic. If the sound source is 3-4m away is recorded very clearly + 20dB.
For all the love for the better sound, the overspending of Rode are disproportionate to the relatively slightly improved sound compared to the in-camera mic.
Outdoor:

While Sony can compete in camcorder Mic indoor use nor is it relegated Outdoor hopeless. The truth is that the Sony Original Sound track is actually no longer be recovered. Soundscape of noise are exaggerated unbearable. Wind noise rumble distort, and rattle make the sound track unusable.
Now trumps the Rode great on:
Very nice dissolved direction pans are wonderfully reproduced in stereo. Super resolution, annoying background noises are eliminated as far as possible.
In detail, I could see, at the parameters:
- Clip: had at a busy street in the background not quite the effect I was hoping for. In fact, I could not tell the difference from "no clip" on the street. The street is very nice faded into the background, but as I said there is no difference in the settings. High frequency scratchy noises as though rustling leaves in the immediate vicinity were clearly shown weaker than even "no clip". The street noise was obviously not enough at high frequency. In both cases there was no merlichen affect the voice reproduction.
- Level: Optional I tested in combination for the clip version "0dB" and "+ 20dB". At 20 the wind and the road was still significantly more present. Water rushing by the stream was very nice and strong. For my taste, but at +20 unnatural presence, albeit in detail.
Conclusion:
When I record Vorhabe only grandmas birthday, enough good in-Camera Mic fine.
For outdoor applications where you want to record a stereo soundscape, I can not get past a high-quality external mic. The Rode SVM Pro is equipped with the best and most modern that there are currently on the market. The difference to the already very ordinary Sony can not describe in categories. Because the Sony original track is not usable while the Pro Rode a very precise and spatially resolved wonderful sound records. Slightly disappointed me the clipping option. The desired effect has not been set here. There is, however, a total of already outstanding. So the Standardeinstelltung (no clipping, 0dB) has proved to be for me the best alternative to the Sony. This may be different on other devices but very comfortable.
Annoying I found only the need to buy a relatively expensive adapter for Sony because Sony customers here again puts a stone in the path, if the should not presume to decide for Sony accessories. But that is not the fault of Sony and Rode.
The Rode SVM Pro I would recommend with full conviction to a friend.
